District lnitiates ROTC Program , i I Z Commanding officer Sgt. Sam Robinson conducts an inspection. Sgt. Major James Freet makes sure a point is very clear. Something new to the district . . . in its first year, ROTC attracted 162 students . . . Under the direction of Sgt. Samuel Robinson, Sgt. james Freet and Corps Commander Lt. Col. Scott Tarkenton . . . the corps organ- ized a four company battalion, initiated a color guard and drill team and fielded a rifle team which went undefeated . . . But most important, the program provides discipline, guidance and military training. Varsity football players watch as cadets check rifles in the remodeled fieldhouse.
