CHARLES NELSON Secretary to the Principal 14 H147 We talk so much about Douglas High School being dissolved, to be active no more. ln the sense only of material values is it dying. What a school stands for, its spirit, its teachers' impressions, its caliber of students will live on and on. We should resolve that our new high school will always be better and strive to make it so. We cannot live on sentimentality. Progress stalls whenever we are sticklers for tradition. We must never be afraid to face new situations, no matter what uneasiness or anxiety it may cause. Even though Douglas High School will be no more after this year, we know memories will live on, new students will create new enthusiasm. We must prepare to fall in line. The production of a high school annual is education in action. Each year our senior class takes the responsibility for portraying graphically our entire school life and for providing a record for posterity. Our school adheres not only to the value of the mastery of fundamental processes, but emphasizes, deservedly, such vital objectives as citizenship education, character training, and the development of individual talents. This yearbook proiects to the reader are enlarged concept of the 3 R's. The organization, detailed planning, coordination, business experience, weighing of values, exercise of judgment, necessary in a publication of this type, make a production of this nature truly education in action.
