Tangible indication of his wise guidance is evident in the buildings themselves. When he became Super- intendent twenty years ago, the city system consisted of 8 small buildings with 98 class- rooms, 52 teachers, and 3,163 pupils. It was run on a budget of 558,583.00 Today there are 14 new or enlarged build- ings, with 184 classrooms, 175 teachers and approximately 6,000 students. The 1955 bud- get was S645,164.00. The Flurry's have one daughter, Mrs. George Playle Uane Flurry, D.H.S. 1939i of Newark, New Jersey, and a lovely little grand- daughter, Nancy, who from all accounts is the apple of her grandfather's eye.
