Dedication SG If 1 I Mrs. Hatfield hard at work. Quiet down, kiddies. lsn't she beautiful? Mother is getting madl If indeed as Shakespeare wrote in As You Like It : All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players, then when it comes to giving top billing to those playing the role of teacher, Mrs. Jean Hatfield is indeed deserving. By a vote of the yearboole- staff Cincluding an honorary endorsement from Llrickb, we are proud to dedicate this l986 Doss High Myth to Mrs. Hatfield. Mrs. Hatfield attended Sheperdsville High School, and then went to the University of Kentucky and Campbellsville college. She received her M.A. in English and secondary education at Murray State University. Mrs. Hatfield has been teaching for eighteen years all at Doss, and is chairperson of the English department. Outside school, she enjoys fishing and reading Shakespeare. Not only is Mrs. Hatfield an excellent teacher, but she also involves herself with student activities. She is a Senior class sponsor and helped greatly with the organization and financing of the first JuniorfSenior prom. She also sets up an ACTXSAT workshop for those who are taking the tests. People throughout the school have pleasant comments about Mrs. Hatfield. Principal Stan Whitaker said, Jean is a superior teacher and leader in the classroom as well as among her peers. She serves her school and community in a manner that sets an exampl for all. Her vast knowledge and abilities make her a genuine asset to her profession. Cindy Perkins Fryrear, a l98l Doss graduat commented, ln college I received very good grades in English. l believe that it was due to Mrs. Hatfield. l had her my Junior yea and she helped me tremendously with grammar and literature. She was also a good friend and listener. A Senior in Mrs. Hatfield' Research English class this year, Scott Sturgeon will always remember her: Mrs. Hatfield may be strict in the classroom, but sh is also a very good friend. She is the only teacher l've ever had that greeted me at the beginning of the year with a hug. Whether it be dedication to doing the best in the classroom, leadership of the English department. supporting and sponsorin student activities, grading ten thousand research papers. or exhibitng genuine concern for her students. Jean Hatfield exemplifie the best, qualities of the teaching profession. The accomplishment of these things is worthy of recognition. That Mrs. Hatfield ha accomplished so much, year in and year out through her eighteen years of service to Doss High students makes us very proud t dedicate this l986 Myth to her. 6-Dedication
