The l985 Volleyball team ended another exciting and victorious season. They had a winning season with a 7-4 win-loss record for the Varsity, and a 9-2 win-loss for the Junior Varsity. The team had strong overall ability, and outstanding players that gave their all to represent Doss High School with pride. The team also had good leadership from the four graduating Seniors Captain - Karen Cotten, Karmen Pulce, Heidi Blessing, and Deidra Stone. They will be missed next season by the Coach and Team members. The Volleyball team received a new coach this season, Mr. Sayler. He has previous experience coaching other sports, but he decided this year it would be volleyball. Although this was his first year in coaching volleyball, he accomplished a winning season from the team. With outstanding plays by Sr. Karen Cotten, Soph. Stacey Bere, Dee Clark Kathy Jackson, Sarah Alvey, and Anil Schmitt. Even though they did not make it to the District or Regional Tournament this year, the coach has put a great deal of time effort, and dedication into the teams. SOUTHWEST O9fl7 S .lock Talk Shannon Porter had this to say about the Varsity Volleyball team: We had a very young team with only 4 Seniors who gave a great deal of help to our team. I believe that next year we will have the opportunity to TAKE STATE . Getting adjusted to a new coach and him getting adjusted to us, we will be better organized than we were this year. Coach Salyer stated this, The Dragons are a hard working bunch of young ladies who accomplished a winning season, both Varsity and Junior Varsity. They play with pride and have represented themselves and Doss High School most favorably.
