Under a new leadership of Coach Edrington the girls' track team began its season on April 3rd, at a meet at Western High School. The year of coaching track at Doss was a good one for coach Edrington. Members of the track team went to the regionals, 7 went to sectionals, and 2 went to state. The two who went to state were Vonnie Pittman who placed 4th in the 400 meter, and Tonia Rice who placed 2nd in the low hurdles. Unlike the boys track, the girls track team wasn't able to break any school records, but they placed in every meet and won Ist place 4 out of 7 times. This incoming season the team will have 6 returning lettermen. The toughest meets are against Mercy, PRP, and Central. The seniors who led the track were Kim Hill, Vonnie Pittman, Donella Saunders, and , Tonia Rice. Their experience was what helped the track team to become a competi- tive team. The contribution they gave to the team was invaluable to the members of the team. Though they are gone, they will always be remembered and sorely missed. i l GIRLS TRACK TEAM Front Row Left to Right: Tamara Darden, Leanne Anderson, Lucretia Stigall, Traci Pride, Kim Hill, Vonnie Pittman, Jawanna Godsey, Coach Edrington. Short in numbers, long in success Doss Golf The Doss High Golf teams were short on numbers but long on success. The Boys team was made up of Toby Fields Tripp Dalrymple Eddie Pehlke and Chip Wagner while the girls team only had two players: Beth Powers and Kim Pehlke. All of the Golf team members partici- pated in the Kentucky Golf Associations mini-tournaments with varied results. Tob Y Fields was the only player to capture an individual tournament championship with a playoff victory at Iroquois golf course. The regional Tournament was Fields best competitive effort to date. Tripp Dalrymple playing the front side in 33 his lowest nine hole score ever ended with a very respectable 75 and a third place finish for the day. The other team members shot an 82 CEddie Pehlkej and an 84 CChip Wagnerj for a team total of 3I2 and an overall 2nd place plus a trip to the state tournament. The Girls team of Beth and Kim were the only two girls to play in any events from the west side of the county but this didnt dampen their spirits. Both girls were able to qualify for the state tournament and a trip to E-town. This was Beth s 3rd straight state tournament. .lock Tallx When asked to com- who was the K o mt.. f . 2191 swfm ,L iif :gift ,lf yr I r . e goal is within sight. Beth 1 Q tt W ,.,. .
