The 84-85 softball team consisted of thirteen players who through skill and hard work managed to earn a spot in the West Region Softball Tournament. Seniors Susan Betz and Becky Lee led the team with the experience and zeal needed for a successful season. The rest of the team consisted of two Juniors, seven Sophomores and, last but not least, two Freshmen. With such a great number of under- classmen the young and inexperienced team relied heavily upon the direction of 2nd year coach, Leon Mudd. The I984-85 Dragon Girls Softball Team played such adversaries as Pleasure Ridge Park, Southern, Western and Holy Rosary. When asked what team was their toughest opponent the team without hesitation re- sponded Holy Rosary. The softball team Iost to Holy Rosary first at home and at Regionals. Next year should be an exciting season. With the vast number of returning under- classmen the 85-86 team will have the experience and enthusiasm necessary to guide them through the Regional Tourna- ment and onto the State Tourney! The i985 Doss High School baseball team completed another season with a close win- lose record of I3-ll ln his third year of coaching the Dragons, Coach Calvin Biggs led one of the most talented young, but inexperienced, teams Doss has ever had. The Dragons started out a little slow this past season, when they only won five out of their first ten games. But this slump didn't last for long. They went on to win their next four games and then tied their next game against the tough team of Iroquois High. Despite a less than spectacular record of l3-l2, the Dragons had little difficulty defeating the Bearcats of Beth Haven to win the district championship. The Dragons made it all the way to the semi-finals of the region, where they lost to Desales 4-3. The outstanding players of the i985 Doss High School baseball team were sen- iors: Mike Potts and Neil Olliges. Other seniors include: Donnie Jaggers. David Lee, Rob Meecha, Paul Penland, David Sanford, and Tony Shircliff. Left to Right - Front Row: Tony Shircliff, Bryan Crum, Chris Harvry, Joey Troklus, Dustin Jacobs, Bruce Crum. Paul Penland.
