There seemed to be a different feeling at Doss High School this year, an excited feeling. Everyone couldn't wait to get the year start- ed, but at the same time couldn't wait until it ended. Let's take, One Last Look at Yesterday. The student body and staff grew this yeart and although there was some confusion, we got to meet new and interesting people, learn- ing their ideas and feelings. We learned to cope with the crowded hallways and classes, changing schedules, and the normal frustra- tions of starting school. With all this growth, learning. and coping. we made many new friends, strength- ened old friendshipst and grew closer together. The friendships and closeness are important to help us get through our high school years. The memories of the fun times, and even the not-so-fun times, will always be an important part of our lives. ln some ways our memories even help shape the way we think and act throughout our entire lives. These four years of our lives can somewhat be compared to a chapter in a novel, the final chapter before adulthood. So many of us don't take time to realize how important and meaningful these' years are until they're gone. Along with high school comes a lot of responsibility. Teachers put more pressure on you to do more work and to do it right. Parents also give you more responsibility and let you make decisions on your own. They give you more freedom and you're allowed to go more places and participate in more activities. On the other hand. your parents expect more work and commitments out of you, which can not always be fulfilled to their approval. Accompanying these responsi- bilities are the hardships that we all encounter. Remember the first fight you had with that special person and you thought it was the end, but actually after a day or two 8 Opening

of cooling off you found out it was just the beginning. Remember that special friend that always seemed to be there no matter what hap- pened, or what time of the day or night it was. Remember all of the long, special talks you and your friends had until late at night on the telephone. Remember that certain teacher who helped you through a problem you thought had no solu- tion whatsoever. During our high school years we encounter many friendships and relationships that are special to us, but there are only a few you know that you can really count on in those difficult times. There were times when you thought the whole situa- tion was hopeless and no one could possibly understand how you were feeling at that exact moment. After high school a lot of those friendsh- ips are pushed aside but never forgotten. they always hold a spe- cial place in your heart. However, there is always that one faithful friend whose friendship you never lose touch of throughout your entire life. This friendship will continue to grow forever, and continue to get stronger as time goes on. Even the very best of friends sometimes go their separate ways, because of different interests, but somehow continue to remain friends even when miles may come between them. Everyone needs one friend they can count on forever, and when that friendship starts in high school it makes that relationship even stronger and more valuable. Not many teenagers realize how important all this is until later and sometimes that's too late. So take time to stop and look at your friends and really see what they mean to you now and what they could mean to you later in life. Everyone's memories of high school are very special ones: they are never forgotten. This yearbook is a reflection of the good and the bad times. We've created One Last Look at Yesterday. Opening 9
