Willie Hudgins, 400 Meter Dash Regional Champ April 4th was the beginning of a successful season for the I984 Boys Track Team. This is a sport which re- quires a great deal of stamina. endurance, and dedication, for those involved. One man that has dedicated his time, knowledge, and experience to this sport is Coach Bill White. Mr. White has coached Boys Track for SPRI T several years and has had quite a few outstanding members. The '84 team consisted of 20 participants: Eric Bagley, Keith Booker, Darren Berry, Clark Carroll, John Conard, Troy Denson, Dennie Galloway, Gary Hack, Shawn Horton, Willie Hudgins, Eric Jackson, Fred Moore, Rodney Morgan. Darvin Moore, Rodney Pitts, Spence lat! xg, Coach spends time with runners before meet begins. Jock Talk We had a decent track season last year and next season looks very prom- ising , comments senior Spence Shipley. He also adds humorously Coach White's a sissy and the leapers got off. Working together is of vital importance while running on the relay teams. Doss Upsets DeSales I4-I3 Blitz The mighty Doss Dragons kicked off their football season with high expecta- tions. They felt they had a lot to live upto after going to the playoffs the past three years. The Dragons started in fair- ly good shape, returning nine starters from the previous year's 8-4 team. Our strong points are in the offensive back- field and ends but, we'Il have to rebuild our offensive line, said coach Pope be- fore the season began. With Spence Shipley returning at quar- terback and Brett Williams and Kevin Cornette in the backfield the Dragons offensive unit showed a great deal of promise. When the defense took the field, key players had to influence others with less experience. The returning players defense included Pat Melton, linel and defensive end, David Law. Injuries and inexperience finally up to The Doss team. A 4-6 season was disappointment, but the memories f the players and fans will live for a Io time to come. Row one, left to right. K. Wood, S.
