Here's what he had to say: I feel that Coach Calvin Biggs has done a great job. He has helped the team by raising money for extra equipment and has worked hard in building an excellent baseball program at Doss. Neil was also asked which game he remembered the most. The game I remember most was when we defeated Valley for the district championship. It gave our team the confidence we'lI need to win the region this year. WITH A 8-3 VICTORY OVER VALLEY IN THE TOURNAMENT, DOSS BECAME DISTRICT C AMPS The I984 Doss High School baseball team completed another successful season last year and ended up with a I5-I2 win-loss record. Led by second- year coach Calvin Biggs and five sen- iors, the team had valuable experience which helped them through the tough spots in the sea- son. The team started quickly, winning eight out of their first ten games. This streak included a win against a tough North Hardin team. Unfortunately, rain caused the squad to miss three early games and they finished with nine rained-out games. They made a fine showing in the Val- ley Invitational Tournament and al- though they had trouble Iater in the year, the regular season was success. Doss' postseason play was ou standing. They won their dis with a 8-3 win over Valley. In Regionals though, Doss lost to S ern in the first round. This bn an end to a surprisingly good for the Dragons. I 2' Q. . Girls Tennis Team Gains Experience as Underclassmen DGMINATE The girls tennis team of the I983-84 season ended up with a 5-8 win-loss record, which overall was fairly good figuring the team was made up en- tirely of underclassmen. The team consisted of three juniors CLaDonna Koebel, Lisa Spencer, and Kelley Snawderj, three sophomores CTamara Frazier, Heidi Blessing, Michelle Blackburnj, and three freshmen Uill Wells, Lisa Brummett, and Shannon Porterj. Four of these tennis pros were veterans from the I982-I983 season: Kelley Snawder, LaDonna Koebel, Tamara Frazier, and Lisa Spencer. All of the girls on the team played extremely well, with a special com- mendation to Lisa Spencer who chosen most valuable player on girls team. Special thanks should be given Mr. .lim Helphinstine. He once . came from P.R.P. to coach our glr tennis team. ,op ww, SCHEDULE LaDonna Koebel, Shannon Porter. Tamara Frazier. Jill Wells. Heidi Blessing.
