Finals 112 - Heichelback tDossj pinned Witten fDanvillej in 1:30 in overtime, Jay Heichelback is the 1983 Kentucky State Champion Wrestler in his weight class l1I2lbsj. He has wrestled for Doss for the past two years coming from Waggener High School, a top wrestling school around this part of Kentucky. Coming to Doss in the middle of the wrestling year he had a slow start but a Hne Hnish. Jay's victory over Danville's Chris Witten in the State Final gave him a 33-3 record for the year. Jay was one of only four Jefferson County wrestlers to win a Hrst place medal. Jay and teammate Brandy credit a lot of their success in the Hnals to one-another, because each one pushed each other in practice. Jay said that he didn 't mind going into overtime with Witten, because he felt that he was in good shape due to having run cross country. Brandy Langley is the 1983 Kentucky State Champion in his weight class of 105. Brandy is a senior who has made it to the Semi Final 105 - Brandy Langley lDoss1 d. Eddie Wooley fSenecaj 7-0, JeffLawrence lConnerl d. Ken Bachman lCampbell Countyj 6-2. Finals 105 - Langley fDossj d. Lawrence lConnerj ll-0. State Tournament representing Doss High School for the past two years. Brandy came from Stuart his junior year and in the 98 pound weight class and did very well. After winning over Senecas Eddie Wooley 7-0 Langley was only one match away from being the top 105 pound wrestler in the state of Kentucky. Winning 11-0 in the state Hnals over Jeff Lawrence he said that he felt wonderful, Brandy standing only 5'3 says that his height helped him because this was one of the few times he was taller than his opponent. He went on to say that the little height advantage gave him more leverage. But after all the hard work and time put into the season came down to the last match and paid off for senior Brandy Langley. So here's to the champ.
