BELOW: The team warms up before a match. The Doss wrestling team took on a whole new look this year, starting with a new head coach, Mark Hinds. The team underwent somewhat of a rebuilding year, since it lost ten varsity wrestlers from last year's region winning team. The team's dual meet record of 3-11 reflected the inexper- ience of the team, but there were some bright spots through the course of the season. For instance, they placed 12th out of twenty-one teams in the Jefferson County Tournament of Champions, with Fritz Kopatz finish- ing second and Brian Hawkins fourth. In the district tournament, Doss had three individual champions: 112 lbs. - Brian Hawkins, 132 lbs. - Fritz Kopatz, 145 lbs. - Billy Hamilton. Along with the three district cham- pions fwho are all Seniorsl, Doss qualified three other wrestlers for regional competition: 98 lbs. - Tommy Kirby, 119 lbs. - David Jones, 126 lbs. - Ronny Kirby. ai O pf X ' Q-. The coach for both the boys and girls teams is Mr. Ray Byerly. The teams practice at the South-west YMCA and are also helped by Richard Sims and Danny Musinski.
