Through your untiring efforts and your zealous work, the Dos Palos High School Marching Band has successfully obtained recognition far be yond of what was expected. It is evident that many of your pupils have profited by your excellent knowledge in the field of music. The scenes on this page depict the daily life of Boss Jacobsen. The picture at the top left was captured during the 1959 Christmas Concert. No description seems to be necessary for it. In the center picture, Boss helps several of his glee club members through a Spring Concert specialty entitled Gigi. At the right he is pictured with his family as they gather around the piano to sing several songs Looking on is his wife Mary Jacobsen and playing the clarinet is his daughter, Janice. I DEDICATIO One of the greatest rewards of working on a yearbook is to be able to dedicate your work to those who have given their time and effort for you. Therefore, with an unending appreciation, the yearbook staff dedicates this the 1960 El Vaquero, to the two men of music at the Dos Palos High School. TO BOSS JACOBSEN: It seems as though no one can ever express the true amount of ap- preciation they may have for their fellow-man. DOS PALOS STUDENTS A D FACULTY The faculty and students would like to say goodbye to Mr Donald E Bourne who has served thirty eight years as a teacher and administrator Mr Bourne who is retiring this year was born in Beatrice Nebraska rn 1896 Upon moving to California he entered his Junior year at the Berkeley High School and after graduation entered the University ofCal1forn1a discharge from the army rn France so as to attend the University of Grenoble in the French Alps Hrs fifth year of college was completed at the University ofCal1forn1a In 1922 Mr Bourne accepted a positron on the teaching staff as a Coach and Vice Principal of the Williams High School After teaching in Williams for two years Mr Bourne transferred to the Dos Palos High School as the Coach and Principal where he has completed thirty six years as an educator at Dos Palos 8 At the outbreak of WWI, Mr. Bourne enlisted in the army and served 19 months overseas.
