,yy-3, The wide sweep of a stage light into the blackness . . . the sudden blare of music from the band pit . . . the expectant hush behind the scenery . . . and it's show time in the spring for D.H.S. The night has come at last, and with it the thousand hopes and heart- aches of vaudeville or Broadway. Glamour and gilt mixed with easy laughter make a world apart of backstage with its painted faces, iumbled propers, and bravado. It's a shimmering, thrilling world that ends abruptly at the curtain's starkness in the realm of the stage Iight's wide sweep. its

TORCH EDITORIAL STAFF The editorial staff of the Torch works throughout the academic year to prepare a representation of school life in print and pictures. All phases of high school are included. Both seniors and underclass- men receive due recognition. Those who participate in activities from sports to music will also find their interests described within the pages of the annual. The Torch is prepared in several sections, under the general direc- tion of Miss Jane Harris. This year's editor-in-chief is Janet Traynor, the senior class editors, Judy Sodie and Cindy Stitt, the underclass editor, Janet Nugent, the activities editor, Bruce Larson, the sports editor, Don Beach, and the photographer and art editor, Douglas Peck. The Torch staff has expended much time and effort to prepare this publication. lt is hoped that this year's Torch truly represents th e achievements and hopes of the student body. Traynor, B. Under the guidance of Miss Beryl Kel- ler, the business staff is responsible for the financial and clerical details of the book's production. To the business staff also falls the weight of encourag- ing the sale of the Torch to D.H.S. students, and the selling of advertising space. The students on the business staff make and plan a budget 'within which the editorial staff must operate. Naturally the Torch's accounts must also be balanced and kept in order. The business staff is perhaps as vitally neces- sary to the Torch as is the photography and literary work. P. Hogben, K. McGibbeny, P. Buck, M. Coutz, L.
