Staff Performed Essential Duties Mrs Grace Reese Mlss Dr Vrctor Kenneth D Rodgers LAFETERIA STAFF The cafeterxa staff plans prepares and serves the lunches at Dormont H1gh School The ladles on thxs staff have a Job that 1S more drffrcult than most persons reallze F1ve days a week for an entxre school year they must provxde meals that are well balanced nutritlous and appetlz 1ng The staff must make certam that the cafe terla 1S spotless at all times Besldes 1ts regular school routme the staff has another rmportant functlon Thrs IS to 3SSlSt or take charge of specral occasxons such as the party follow1ng the senlor luncheon and the senlor and freshman tea John Renton Vincent MEDICAL STAFF The medlcal staff rs a valuable part of D H S for It provrdes the school wrth many neces sary serv1ces Durmg the day sxck calls and ln Jurres are taken care of by Mrs Reese the school nurse Perrodrcally eye and ear tests are admmlstered and exammatxons are glven by Dr Rodgers In addrtlon the emotxonal prob lems of the students are studred by Dr Free man a psychologlst The health problems of the elementary schools are looked after by Mrss McGrew Add1t1onal functlons of the staff are conductmg absentee checks and compxlrng ln formatron concermng the health of teenagers 1 ff Ml '11 P F Mrs Cella Cook Mrs Betty Ball Mrs Rose Drmond Mrs Marjone Thorn JANITORIAL STAFF The malntenance department IS mdrspensable to Dormont Hlgh School Its functlons are num erous but 1ts GHICIEUCY IS unsurpassed It must keep the school rn tlp top condltlon by reparr mg pollshmg waxmg and keepmg the bulldmg clean It must also make sure that the bu11d1ng has sufliclent heat at all trmes These varrous dutles make our school a more pleasant and a more healthful place rn whlch to work and study After every evenmg functlon when every one else has gone home one or more members of the staff must remain to clean up and lock the doors.

Barry Johnson Norman Cald- well, and Harry McMillan held up the end positions and caught many valuable passes. Caldwell also played very ex- cellent pass defense. Paul Black and Harry McMillan were the spark plugs of the team, calling the plays with a skill that gained many yards for Dor- mont. Jim Nelson, John Burke, and Dave Williams aided John Bonenber- ger, our fastest runner, in the backlield. Williams was the punter and place kicker for the team. The 1958 season found the Bulldogs facing the toughest opposition in DHS history The season opened with Dormont defeating a deter mined Perry squad All hope for an undefeated season was erased in the third game at Carnegie Coach Fred Loeffler again led his Bulldogs, for the second straight year, to a five and four record Though the record was only fair the sp1r1t was good An average of over 3000 fans turned out for each of the home games A severe case of fumble 1tlS and unfortunate pass inter ceptions gave Dormonts opponents ample scor ing opportunities Quarterbacks Paul Black and Harry McMillan sparked an aerial attack that had not been expected Two straight victories over Quaker Valley and Brentwood enabled Dormont to finish with a winning season This year marked the first year that Dormont has participated in the Big Ten Conference Row 4: M.
