'Washington scored early in the fzrst quarter for a 7 to O lead. The Bulldogs gained repeatedly, out could not get into scoring position. Late in the second quarter a long Washington pass resulted in a l4 to O half time margin. Being outweighed in every posi- tion made no difference to the ever fighting Loeffler' men. The second half was almost all Dorrnont's. The Bulldogs threatened the opponents goal line sev- eral times oefore Don Miller finally hucked over for six points. Dave Kern kicked the extra point. The remainder of the game was hard fought with Dor- mont's line. led by Tom Mooney and Pete Bots. hold- ing Washington to no first downs in the second half. The fiery spirit was so evident that the spectators ipplauded the players as they came from the field. BOX TUMBLES 20 TO 0 Dormont showed their true form by heating the two touchdown favorite, Mcliees Rocks, 20 to O. Staunch defensive line play bottled up the Rocks' running game and alert secondaries lowered the ceil- ing on the overhead attack. Dormont's first score fume in the second quarter on a pass from Richards to Lewandowski. The Bulldogs hit again in the third period with Richards pitching to McCartney. Virdyn Caldwell, rr great line hacker, recovered a fumble and raced ten yards for the final score. Dave Kern :onverted for the extra point in two of three attempts.
