September 11 was the im- portant day, for that was reg- istration day. The day before, the Freshmen had pre-regis- tered by meeting with their faculty advisers and filling out forms. All students completed their registration on Wednes- day, and classes began at 7:35 the following morning. Dr. Rozeboom, Dean of Students, in the picture to the right, in- formed students of the ways and rules of the school. T i1'.i-T . Q as The President of the College Led the Convocations Exercises Wednesday evening students and faculty assembled for the convocation service. This convocation was a first in two ways: the first one to be held in the new gymnasium, and the first to be broadcasted over the radio. Mrs.lan Bouma led the singing, and Mr. Grotenhuis sang The Lord ls My Light as special number. Rev. B. 1. Old and New Friends Meet During First Week of School ' September brought many new peo- ple to the campus of Dordt, some familiar and some unfamiliar faces. Orientation week gave individuals the opportunity to become better ac- quainted. Dorm living, activities such as scavenger hunts, and orientation sessions aided in this. Also pictures, as in the upper left picture, were taken for a Student Directory. ll One night of orientation week was designated as Club Fair night. Each club set up 8 booth to introduce itself, ,eX- plain its membership qualifica- tions, and display its materials and activities. Several clubS added new members, and interest was aroused in starting a few new clubs. These were all occupied by girls and supervised by a counselor. The two dormitories also sup- plied housing on campus. Construction began in the fall on a third dormitory building which is hoped to be completed by the fall M196 Other students lived off campus in Sch owned or private housing.
