He was one Of the few seniors in the state of Iowa to be chosen, Traveling to Des Moines with coach Timmer and captain Ger Bovenkamp, Gene played in the game of The Senior All-Stars from Iowa small colleges against Senior All-Stars from Iowa universities. As an award, Gene received a watch. All his four years at Dordt, Gene has been a starter and top scorer on the Varsity team. 9 . iw ., , . Six Cheerleaders Lead Spirited Crowd at Rousing Basketball Ciames The cheerleaders for this year were as pictured at left: FRONT ROW-Sue Lyon, Sylvia Lengkeek, Bev Kuiper, BACK ROW- Barb Van C-elder, Karen Kramer, Karen Hof- man. Barb Van Gelder, a junior, was the cap- tain. They were chosen by the Student Coun- cil to lead the crowd in cheering at Dordt's home basketball games. There were six cheer- leaders this year, an increase of one from last year. These cheerleaders practiced much and had many new cheers.
