'-an Alumni and Parents: Welcome to the First Homecoming of Dordt For the first time ever in the historY Of the college, the school's alumni became a part of Dordt's school calendar. The event WHS OUT first homecoming. The day was to honor the alumni and to show them-just how the School continues to progress. The elected hosts of hostesses guided the alumni through the eventS of the day. Various activities were planned, culminating in some vigorous sports action in l..,l X Elected Students Hosted the Events The hosts and hostesses, who were elected by their re- spective classes, honored the alumni, students, and parents at a reception in the class- room-auditorium following the varsity game. The hosts and hostesses were Freshmen Guy De Haan and Donna Dop- penberg, Sophomores Marv Rietema and Helene Henge- veld, juniors lim Schippers and Gloria Ver Meer, and Seniors Brenda and Martin Zuidervaart, as shown in the picture above from left to 4:92557 l the evening, with the Dordt Defenders de- l feating Briar Cliff in the basketball game. I 1 I 1 Sports and Snow Were the Main Activities Activities during homecom- ing were many and varied. Several students demonstrated their artistic abilities by con- structing snow sculptures. In the afternoon a panel dis- cussion was held in which campus life and affairs were discussed. In the sports world, the action began in the after- noon with a volleyball game between the Dordt all-stars and the faculty. In the evening the junior Varsity and the Varsity squads gave to the homecoming crowd a spirited representation of Dordt's par- ticipation in basketball. pi.
