Hockey Highlights The Dorchester Hockey Team was fortunate in having its first line made up almost entirely of veterans. The team, working under Coach Frank Tracy was as follows: Gerry Hammond guarded the nets and later switched to defense, Harry Wright took over as goal tender, Joe Sullivan and Captain Paul Costello were on defense, Billy Flaherty centered between Paul Guiney and Bob King. The second line men were veterans Billy Sullivan, J ack Connolly and Henry Son. Gus McKinnon and Larry Murphy were on defense. The third line was made up of a fast rising scoring line with Bob Connolly, Bill Fleming and Les Connoughton up front, and Gordon Buckley and Jim Higgins backing up with Ronnie Morgan as a new goalie. Dorchester 2 - Latin 1 Dorchester held off Latin whose strong and fast shooting was menacing until the third period when Latin made hay of our mistakes. Uncoordination of the Hrst line, and the usual difficulties of the game led to a loss. The sharpshooters were Paul Guiney assisted by Joe Sullivan, and Billy Flaherty assisted by Paul Guiney and Paul Costello. Dorchester 1 - English 2 In Dorchester's second encounter English was almost taken by Dot's faster and harder skating club. Still not at full strength, Gerry Hammond did a fantastic job in the nets backed by Larry Murphy and Gordon Buckley. Paul Guiney scored with Billy Flaherty assisting. Dorchester 0-Technical 8 Without the services of Captain Paul Costello, Dot lost to a strong Technical High. Dot fought all the way but just couldn't click. Joe Sullivan played an out- standing game but in vain. Dorchester 2 - Trade 5 Many penalties lost this game for Dot, chiefly due to lack of completed passes. However Bob King hit the corner with Billy Flaherty assisting, and Flaherty tallied another goal with Paul Guiney and Billy Sullivan as- sisting. Dorchester 2 - Memorial 2 In our tilt with Memorial, over confidence and poor shooting that was about an inch off brought us to a tie with Roxbury. Bill Flaherty and Bob King played a good defensive game, with Harry Wright taking over in the net and doing a fine job. Paul Guiney slipped one by the Memorial goalie, shooting in his own rebound assisted by Bob King and Billy Flaherty, Jack Connolly, assisted by Gus Son and Larry Murphy whizzed another goal in the upper right hand corner. Dorchester 3 - English 4 Starting out its last time around, Dot, without the services of Billy Flaherty and Paul Costello, almost upset a favored English team. Everything clicked for Dot including the back checking. Bob King tallied twice for Dot assisted by Paul Guiney and Joe Sullivan, and Paul Guiney slapped one in with Gordon Buckley and Gus McKinnon picking up the points but this good playing did not bring us victory. Dorchester 0 - Trade 4 Misconducts were the turning point in what otherwise might have been a good game. Paul Guiney and Gus McKinnon played a decisive part in this game, for they held off the Trade attacks. Dorchester 1 - Latin 2 The team played without Bob King and Paul Cos- tello. Dot's passing clicked and they almost took another favored team. J ack Connolly and Billy Sullivan played an excellent game with Billy Flaherty soloing in to score. Dorchester 1 - Technical 9 The whole team played together for the first time since its first game. However they lost to a faster team -the future champions of the City League. Paul Cos- tello, Paul Guiney and Joe Sullivan played well. Bob King fired one from the blue line for Dot's lone goal. Dorchester 3 - Memorial 2 In its last game of the season, Dot outplayed Me- morial by a vast margin, paying off for Dot in a big way. Everything worked well and Harry Wright did a fine job as net minder. After catching the spark, Dot took the lead and never once gave it up. The team's scoring took place in all three periods with Paul Guiney being the big gun for Dot. Guiney scored twice with Bob King and Paul Costello assisting on one and Joe Sullivan and Paul Costello assisting on the second. Billy Flaherty scored the third with Jack Connolly and Gerry Hammond assisting. Our sincere gratitude goes to the cheerleaders and Frank Tracy for a wonderful year. Every man on the team was pleased to hear that Paul Guiney was picked to play on the Boston City All-Stars. Bob King
