There were 29 bashful freshmen that entered Dorchester High School in 1953. During the early part of September initiation was held by the Sophomores, with a full day of fun and a school party in uhe evening. At our first class meeting we elected our officers for the year. They were as follows; President, Donald Feldbrugge; Secretary, Nancy Laabs; Treasurer, Luanne Gebert. Our class advisors were Mrs. Sorenson and Mrs. Pope. In the fall of 19.34, twenty-five sophomores started school. This year we had the privilege of initiating the freshmen. We had a very suc- cessful school party after the ceremony. The officers were as follows: President, Nancy Laabs; Vice President, Janice Geiger; Secretary,Karen RIemer; Treasurer, Marilyn Killikin. Our advisors were again Mrs.Pope and Mrs. Sorenson. Our Junior year began with the same twenty-five pupils. We are now upperclassmen and have the job of setting an example for the under- classmen. At our first meeting we elected officers with Dale Pope as President, Verlyn Schmidt as Vice President,Janice Geiger as Secretary and Fern Krueger as Treasurer. Mrs. Abrahamson and Mrs. Koehler are our class advisors. We held a class play with the seniors in November Our Junior Prom was held April 27. The theme used to decorate was Song of the Islands. We resumed school activities as seniors with twenty-six class members. We elected class officers; President, Eddie Seidel; Vice President, Ervin Zenker; Secretary, Nancy Laabs; Treasurer, Karen Riemer. Mrs. Abrahamson aid Mr. Cook were our advisors. The menu was made up of punch, nut cups, Southern Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, salad, and cherry pie al a mode as desert. The class, under the direction of Franklin Fristche, gave a class play Hillbilly Yfeddin on the 5th of May, 1957. As a good result of four years of studying, Donald Feldbruegge merited the honor of valedictorian and Karen Riemer that of salutatorian. Fern Krueger was chosen by the faculty to receive the D.A.R. award. We chose With the Ropes of the Past, We Will Ring the Bells of the Future as our motto with the sweetheart rose as our flower.
