“einil r i s i «s r $ Autumn 1952 found twenty-one eager freshmen enrolling as Dor- chester High students. Everything was new and different but friendly teachers and students soon made us feel at home. We were officially greeted by the sophomores on initiation day. At our first class meet- ing we elected the following officers: President, James Schiferl; Vice President, Janis Zier; Secretary, Mary Jane Hollman; Treasurer, Eileen Neidhold; student council representative, Joanne Bochanyin. We chose Mr. Mosbaek as our advisor. The year was wound up with a school picnic at Marathon Park in 'Wausau. We returned as sophomores with four less members. This year we had the fun of initiating the new freshmen. We held a class meeting and elected officers for the year: President, Joanne Bochanyin; Vice President, David Geiger; Secretary, Judy Jantsch; Treasurer, Jerry Ludwig. Mr. Mosbaek again was our advisor. Throughout the year we sponsored several cookie and candy sales, all of which were successful. We ended the school year with a picnic with the juniors at Cherokee Park. Our junior year was begun with sixteen members. We elected class officers: President, David Geiger; Vice President, Bernard Klabunde; Secretary, Eileen Neidhold; Treasurer, Carol Seidel. Wfe chose Mr. Son- salla as our advisor. The juniors and seniors joined forces and under the direction of Mrs. Sorenson put on a play Boardinghouse Reach on November 12, 1954. We again sponsored several bake sales which helped a great deal in paying for our Prom, which was on April 22, 1955 We selected Japanese Sandman as our theme song, and Benny Graham fur- nished the music. David Geiger and Joanne Bochanyin reigned as king and queen. We climaxed the year with a class picnic at Mondeaux Dam. We resumed school activities as seniors with seventeen class mem- bers. We elected class officers: President, Delilah Springer; Vice President, Bernard Klabunde; Secretary, Joanne Bochanyin; Treasurer, Judy Jantsch. Mr. Sonsalla again was our advisor. The whole class went to Medford on September 12 to have senior pictures taken by Mr. Doyle. The juniors and seniors, under the direction of Mrs. Werner, gave a combined class play One Wild Night on November 18, 1955. As a good result of four years of studying James Schiferl merited the honor of valedictorian and Delilah Springer that of salutatorian. Delilah was also chosen by the faculty to receive the D. A. R. award. We chose The Higher we Climb the Broader the View as our motto with the yellow rose as our flower. Class colors were blue and silver. On May 17, 1956, seventeen sober seniors in blue caps and gowns received their long-awaited diplomas.
