Our freshman year slipped by with nothing out of the ordinary happening, as did our Sophomore. On I .ay 28, 1937 wo as Juniors honored the Senior class at the promenade. From king, Donald Schreiber selected Gertrude Scidmore as his queen. The events of our Senior .ear followed each other in rapid succession. Donald Schreiber and Lorraine Schumacher were voted king and queen of the popularity conte t, another feature of the carnival. In January we established the photo- g.aihy club under the direction of fir. UcVey, Principal. We as a class, with the help of ..iss Uaxine Liason, class advisor, and Ur. LcVey edited the Dorhian, which was named by Iillian r.llar, a member of our group. .--t the class tournament the Seniors kept in the lead until the last night. The boys took first places in basketball, chinning, tug-o-w-r, standing broad junn and the running relay race. A novelty feature of the tourney was a Senior Class 3and composed of ten members of our class, some of which had never be ore played a musical instrument. During our four year session at high school three of our boys, Donald Schreiber, -.rthur Soid 1, and Reuben Puoschnor were first team members of the bastet-Vll squad, fix. members of the class wore represented in the high school b nd .nd Gertrude Scidmore and Lorraine Schumacher were cheerleaders for two years J une 5rd marked the end of our high school career. A bc.nr uot was held at tho Block Hotel at 6:50 P.ii. after which we ediournod to the Recreation Hall for Commencement Bxercises -nd to bid farewell to our associates end teachers. This year the Seniors broke the tradition and decided not to have a speaker. In preference to this, they themselves with the aid of the girls glee glut and band ensemble put on the entire program. Our lirst year was syent in accustom- ing ou selves to the gener 1 routine of things nd acquainting ourselves with our upyer classmen. kany of our students started early to t.ke an active eart in e:tra- curricular events. n returned the following year with 30 members left in our grou;;. He had worn off the tiuidness consi drably, and entered into competition with our superior class- mates. Our Sophomore year found us with outstanding declamatory end oratorical speakers. .1 stu tent from our class, Duane kedry, represented Dor-di in oratory in the League contest and won first pl ce, also winning first in the District Contest at t - . Stevens Point. „t the end of our second year we considere., ourselves as n unique part of the assemblage of scholars le advan .od into our present Junior year with 24 o_ our former classmates. The hand received a second division_ rating in playing and third division in m rching. Of the solos--Gertrude Icidmoro placed in the second division. Ducts: Ilyrtle Herman and Iiarilyn Sorenson—second division, Arlene Violand nd Bvelyn doronson--second division, Be rl Schreihor and Ruth Fuchsgruhor—s cond division. At the preliminary festival hold at Abbotsfoi A)ril 9th, the hand did well also. The contest was judged by Feter J. Lickelsen, director of the Central 3t to Teacher's College land at Stcvons Point. A concert was given April 29th at Recreation Hall. TiiO hand played their to moment pieces. The band has made several public appear ncos at basketball games and at various programs, member of the hand have played solos throughout the year. May 13th, was an exciting day for the girls of the Glee Club, The liusic Festival took place at llarshfeild on that day. nineteen girls w re there. They sang two songs, namely: Tue Czechoslovakian Dance Song : nd little Brown Bird. They placed in the Third Division. On Saturday, April 9th, the girls sang Little Brown Bird at the preliminary festival held at Tbh o tsford. Twc woeks later Friday, ipril 29th, the girls song at a concert held at liecreation Hall. Eight girls were selected from twenty-eight to sing as an octet on two occasions: the first being an Armistice D .y Program; the second at a mooting of the Abbotsford Llusic Club at the Richard Schroibor home. Tho octet was na.de up of Lyrtlo Herman, ..rlettu Lindau, irione Violand and Katherine Bauornfcind as sopranos; Phyllis Schief Gertrude Scidmoro, Pearl Schroibor and Bernice Schroibor as altos. The entire Girls' Glee Club appeared at a Christmas program given by the grades at Recreation Hall. Their second appearance as made at a ‘ Stotsonville Parent Teachers Association meeting. Tho first semester tho chorus was conducted by Liss Iia;:ino llason, but it was taken over by Lirs. L. D. lorcnson at tho beginning of the second semester. Carol Oekerlandor has been Accompanist. The Boys' Gleqjf Qil nsrdiscontinued after girls was organised in Dorchester High school under the leadership of Lis 3 Vivian Culver,and was continued the following year under Hiss 3...roara Beckwith. They passed the tenderfoot test, an., were registered at Washington D. C. as first class scouts.
