Y I ag Q 2 ' F ' 1- gem qfcdfdfzy CHAW, The Beta Club of seventeen members began its sixth year in Donovan High School. Miss Kathy McCleary sponsored the club. During a night ceremony, twenty-one new members were inducted. These new members included fourteen sophomores, three juniors, and four seniors. After the Pep Rally preceding the Homecoming game, the Beta Club served doughnuts and chocolate milk in collaboration with the D Club and Student Council. A Sadie Hawkins Dance in the spring completed the club's activities. The State Beta Convention held in Springfield provided the year's finale. This year the Donovan Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America was slightly larger than previous years. Sixty-two members were affiliated with the WQMAKERS- national organization. QQ I of? The year started with a Record Hop and a Bake Sale in October. 5' K 2, In December, the girls accompanied by their mothers, went on a Christmas '5 2 shopping trip to Korvettes and Park Forest. On the way, they stopped at the Fortin 'Z I I Villa to deliver Christmas gifts to all the children. 04 ' O? The annual Tot Party was changed this year. Because of health interests, 4-P0 Oqbx only those girls in the third and fourth year Home Economics classes could bring NEW A tots. Entertainment forthe tots was provided by the speech class and the appearance of Santa Claus. With February came the Sweetheart Ball. The FHA selected their King and the FFA selected their sweetheart. Also in February the girls sent valentines to children at the Fortin Villa. The election and installation of new officers concluded the year. 88
