NOVEMBER November was the month for making many dicisions, The Seniors planned their trip, making many revisions. The Junior Class gave their play Pick-A-Dilly with zest, Everyone enjoyed it, twas termed a great success. With the backing of the Pep Club and the mighty Wildcat's skill, Our first basketball game was a victory - to win the rest we will. The Senior Class held a Fun-Night which was a great success, The games were loads of fun and the entertainment the best. DECEMBER On December one students were temporarily free from woes, For another six weeks of studying had finally come to a close. On December 5 some Senior girls took the Betty Crocker test. To see which girl at homemaking, would be the very best. Thursday night there was a bon fire and snake dance in the dark, Our school spirit must have helped because we slaughtered Cissna Park. The theme of the Homecoming Dance was Walking Down Wildcat Lane! At the end of the evening, it was learned Queen Louisa would reign. School dismissed for Christmas vacation - holidays were fun, The true meaning of this special day was felt by everyone. JANUARY Another new year has come our way - its name is ninteen sixty eight, All are looking towards the futureg graduating Seniors cannot wait. And suddenly - Oh No! - it can't possibly be true, The third six weeks is over - the first semester's through! This was the month the Sophomore skill was really put to test, To try to make their Fun-Night become the very best. Tore down to Milford, and gave them a great fight, And then we took on Central, a rather bad night. The Beta Club expanded and threw out its mighty chest, Tookxin those with markings which were the very best. FEBRUARY Abraham Lincoln, a man of inspiration, Led a drive to freedom to strenghten our nation. Illinois calls him her native son, And in his honor, a vacation day one. Valentine's Day and sweethearts abound, A Special candy box is not passed around. The F.F. A. and F. H. A. ,. Gave a Sweetheart Ball that Saturday, Dave Askew was F.F. A. King, Sweetheart, Gay Hertz, the prettiest thing. And on that eventful day, Mrs. Daschner came back with students gay. Second in the district in the many speech events, The play was third - the happy gents And the ladies rejoiced as did all the restg Vowing that next year we'd be the best.

AUGUST The fifteenth of August was the day the Freshmen and Sophomores signed the roll, Registering of Juniors and Seniors was August l6th's goal. First came the Freshmen, totaling fifty-one, Looking forward to a year full of mischief and fun. Next came the Sophomores with the biggest class of all, Their sixty-two members were crowded in the hall, Then came the Juniors with fifty-three in number, Who, by this time, have learned they cannot slumber, Last, but not least, the great and mighty Seniors appear, With all forty-four members hoping to make this their greatest year. With the student enrollment of two hundred and nine, To make this school year great was the dream of Mr. Crumrine. With the addition of Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Sanders, Mr. Swikle, Mr. Hancock, W Mr. Dyduch, Mr. Vaughan, and secretary, Mrs. Faupel, Donovan High School's faculty is complete, And the goals they set, all will strive to meet. SEPTEMBER .-.-ACI' 93 'eu Q- ,, OCTOBER It's October and the students have welcomed fall, For it will bring a month full of activities for all. To choose the style and color of the annual, the DONGVO staff did meet. Their main desire is that all deadlines they will strive to beat. The Sophomore class sweatshirt sales advanced to a great start, 'Because they all wanted to make a profit, each did his part. With the end of the first six weeks, report cards were mailed, Many students had received good grades but a few had failed. The Junior play cast was chosen and practices did start, Miss Carlson is hoping that each will learn his part. The Freshman class sponsored a Hobo Day, That it was a success they are happy to say. Giving a dollar to buy an ad, the patrons all consented, For with their help and the staff, the first Donogram was presented. The Senior class met to choose the color of their caps and gowns. All members are awaiting the day when the last bell sounds. The F, H,A, girls had a bake sale which was a great success, With the contributions of the members, they did their best. 96 September was a month full of many pleasant thingsg The baseball team's great victories, the Juniors long-awaited rings. Each class met using Parliamentary Procedure, The purpose of the meeting was to elect their leader. Larry, Kris, Kay, and Laura were chosen to rule, In hopes they would try to make this the greatest school. Magazine subscriptions the Junior class did sell, And when they were completed, they found they had -done quite well. Sheldon met with our great baseball team. And they lost 8 to 6, on September 15. Second in Conference is what the Donovan Wildcats won, Everyone is proud of what our team has done. To the Farm Progress Show the F.F. A. boys did go, They trudged through the mud to learn things they did not know. The F. H. A. girls sponsored a record hopg With the profit they made, they came out on top. 'S crwrsrf im? 98 FEBRUARY February 19 was not a lark or a mere jest, For Seniors taking the U,S, Air Force Aptitude Test. Basketball ended at Buckley-Loda this year, Wanda and Marsha gave their Wildcats' last cheer. And the end of the season gave reason to mince, For Larry and Paul - to Bill and to Vince. The National Merit Scholarship Tests about now, Started Juniors thinking of the future - And ljfow! Have HEA . .1 MARCH Did March come in like a lamb or a lion? Who had time to notice when all were tryin' To end the six weeks that particular day, And wish all good luck at the Sectional play. fs,,y , ,',,ttt,. , S, , T That came on the ninth after an assembly For Northern Illinois Gas. Girls started to get trembly, . , As they considered asking a boy to a dance. Beta's Sadie Hawkins left some boys in a trance. Their beautiful girls were dressed in such style, They pondered - should they laugh or just give them a smile? The Constitution test must be passed, No Senior wishes to be the last. Ran up the score at the Clifton-Central Tourney, On to the Regionals, for some a long journey. APRIL Ran and jumped and vaulted away, At Milford's track meet we were gay. Harbinger of spring and summer the same, On April the ninth the first baseball game. The six weeks ends before Good Friday, New sox for the boys, new hats for milady. Easter vacation is so lovely and cool, A And Seniors ponder the end of school. And the Senior play Space Ship Ahoy , Savoring the last few days with joy. Then melody sprang from room to room, And the big bass drum goes boom! boom! boom! The time of the concert was firmly fixed, In April, twas the night of the twenty-sikth. MAY Dance and sway, be very gay, Buy your gown, order a corsage, Wash your car out by the garage. Never such a night in all four years, Millions of smiles and a few little tears. Sooner than you know twas the last, last test, And someone you once shunned you now like best. Baccalaureate that strange solemn occasion, And graduation with great elation. The Senior class of sixty-eight, Thought their trip was really great, fn' '-' - ' f 9'ff'-i f The Junior-Senior Prom occurs in May. I But all is not over, the Seniors cry, g Up, up, and away and high in the sky . g
