SHIRLEY LINDGREN Student Assistants: MARSHA PREISSER, DENISE ARSENEAU, NANCY JOHNSON, CATHY TEBO The health room is for the use of students with physical and emotional ills. Many different kinds of illnesses and accidents occur every week and are treated in the Health Room. Mrs. Lindgren, our school nurse, is at the grade school in the morning and at the high school in the afternoon. The program of the nurse this year consisted of helping with flouride, case studies for Mr. Miller, setting up a complete immunization program for four months, and weight and height check every six weeks for grade school. I, , . . . . 9 1 With an enrollment of forty-seven members, the Class of '68 began their high- school career with Mr. Linard Kessinger as our sponsor. Leading us were Harold Loy, Presidentg Louisa Schultz, Vice-Presidentg Ilean Tunks, Secretary, Gay Hertz, Trea- surer, Wanda Bossong, Reporter-Historian, Corky Askew, Photographerg Vicki Stephen- son and Bill Boudreau, Student Council members. The following year we gained three new members: Cindy Cordes, George Gernon, and Zula Lawson. Selling sweatshirts was our major money-making project. Louisa Schultz led our class as President backed up by Cheryl Wendel as Vice-President, Cindy Cordes as Sfcretary, Dave Whitson as Treasurer, and Paul Carlson as Photographer Terry Gerber and Bonnie Langellier represented us on the Student Council. Our Junior year began with the arrival oi class rings. Harold Loy returned to lead our class with Linda Merhley as Vice-President, Gay Hertz as Secretary, Wanda Bos- song as Treasurer, Marsha Preisser as Reporter-Historian, and Barb Arseneau as Photo- grapher. Terry Gerber and Bonnie Langellier again represented us on the Student Council. The Junior Play Professor, How Could You! , was a great success. Shangri- La highlighted the year with beautiful decorations, soft lights, and dreamy music. Our Senior year commenced with the election of officer. Those elected were Larry Frye, President, Harold Loy, Vice-Presidentg Louisa Schultz, Secretaryg Cindy Cordes, Treasurerg Barb Arseneau, Reporter-Historian, Bonnie Langellier and Terry Gerber, Student Council members. Emily Nelson joined our class from Aurora. A The Senior Class was well-represented in extra-curricular activities. Wanda Bossong was editor of the Donovo and President of F. T. A. Louisa Schultz was editor of the Donogram and also President of the band. Larry Frye was President of the Student Council. Beta Club, Speech Association, and F.F. A. were led by Harold Loy. Bonnie Langellier guided the Pep Club through its first year. Gay Hertz success- fully led the F. H. A. through its 22nd year at D.H. S. Marsha Preisser was the success- ful leader of the Library Club. The second year of the D Club was presided over by Terry Gerber. Marsha Preisser and Wanda Bossong were elected to their third year as cheerleaders. Four seniors, Bill Boudreau, Paul Carlson, Larry Frye, and Vince Mar- tell, represented the class on the varsity basketball squad. Five senior boys lead the Wildcats to second place in the conference: Dave Askew, Bill Boudreau, Paul Carlson, Terry Gerber, and Vince Martell. The seniors on the track team were: Bill Boudreau, Paul Carlson, Larry Frye, Vince Martell, John McDonald, Richard'Munson, and Harold Loy, manager. Walking Down Wildcat Lane , the theme of 1967's Homecoming, was reigned by Queen Louisa Schultz with Barbara Arseneau and Cindy Cordes in her court. The class colors, yellow and white, and the yellow rose set the stage for May 29th's Graduation. A Greyhound bus took the seniors to Washington, D.C. on June the second. Pep Club activities are mainly limited to participation at the basketball games and pep rallies but the club did sell Homecoming badges. The profits of the badge sales went to buy a black and gold Donovan Wildcat banner which is now on display in the gymnasium. During a night ceremony, twenty-one new members were inducted. These new members included fourteen sophomores, three juniors, and four seniors. After the Pep Rally preceding the Homecoming game, the Beta Club served doughnuts and chocolate milk in collaboration with the D Club and Student Council. To choose the style and color of the annual, the DONGVO staff did meet. Their main desire is that all deadlines they will strive to beat. The Sophomore class sweatshirt sales advanced to a great start, 'Because they all wanted to make a profit, each did his part. With the end of the first six weeks, report cards were mailed, Many students had received good grades but a few had failed. The Junior play cast was chosen and practices did start, Miss Carlson is hoping that each will learn his part. The Freshman class sponsored a Hobo Day, That it was a success they are happy to say. Giving a dollar to buy an ad, the patrons all consented, For with their help and the staff, the first Donogram was presented. The Senior class met to choose the color of their caps and gowns. All members are awaiting the day when the last bell sounds. The F, H,A, girls had a bake sale which was a great success, With the contributions of the members, they did their best. 96 September was a month full of many pleasant thingsg The baseball team's great victories, the Juniors long-awaited rings. Each class met using Parliamentary Procedure, The purpose of the meeting was to elect their leader. Larry, Kris, Kay, and Laura were chosen to rule, In hopes they would try to make this the greatest school. Magazine subscriptions the Junior class did sell, And when they were completed, they found they had -done quite well. Sheldon met with our great baseball team. And they lost 8 to 6, on September 15. The Senior Class held a Fun-Night which was a great success, The games were loads of fun and the entertainment the best. DECEMBER On December one students were temporarily free from woes, For another six weeks of studying had finally come to a close. On December 5 some Senior girls took the Betty Crocker test. To see which girl at homemaking, would be the very best. Thursday night there was a bon fire and snake dance in the dark, Our school spirit must have helped because we slaughtered Cissna Park. The theme of the Homecoming Dance was Walking Down Wildcat Lane! At the end of the evening, it was learned Queen Louisa would reign. School dismissed for Christmas vacation - holidays were fun, The true meaning of this special day was felt by everyone. JANUARY Another new year has come our way - its name is ninteen sixty eight, All are looking towards the futureg graduating Seniors cannot wait. And suddenly - Oh No! - it can't possibly be true, The third six weeks is over - the first semester's through! This was the month the Sophomore skill was really put to test, To try to make their Fun-Night become the very best. Tore down to Milford, and gave them a great fight, And then we took on Central, a rather bad night. The Beta Club expanded and threw out its mighty chest, Tookxin those with markings which were the very best. FEBRUARY Abraham Lincoln, a man of inspiration, Led a drive to freedom to strenghten our nation. Illinois calls him her native son, And in his honor, a vacation day one. Valentine's Day and sweethearts abound, A Special candy box is not passed around. The F.F. A. and F. H. A. ,. Gave a Sweetheart Ball that Saturday, Dave Askew was F.F. A. King, Sweetheart, Gay Hertz, the prettiest thing. And on that eventful day, Mrs. Daschner came back with students gay.
