SEPTEMBER School became settled and studies began, Everyone doing the best that he can. The Juniors are busy and as proud as can be, With their magazine sales and rings for all to see. The Betas are planning, working, and looking for fung They took a great trip down to see Turkey Run, On September twenty-first all faces were shiny, Annual pictures were taken from large to tiny. Our baseball boys are doing just fine, Defeating all others right down the line. Teacher's institute caused one day's delay, The F. H. A. bake sale did well in' their pay. 1966 School Activity Calendar AUGUST The Donovan High School bell rang again, With an enrollment of two hundred ten. New faces were added, all looking fine, For Freshmen, when totaled, revealed fifty-nine. One class thought themselves nifty and tnrifty, Sophomores came up with an even fifty. The Juniors were jollyg on fun they did thrive, They added their share of fifty-five. Then came the mighty, the ones with the drive, For forty-six Seniors had finally survived. The faculty looked the same as before, Maybe leaner and tannerg they walked through the door No new faces and names to be learned, Until in November, when Mr. Cowgill we earned. OCTOBER Seniors started preparing for graduation By already ordering their invitations. The college-bound Seniors were getting no rest They were too busy taking college entrance tests, Moaning and groaning was heard loud and strong For the six weeks had ended, it flew by like a song! With October came basketball trainingg Our basketball boys with sore muscles were straining. The Donovo staff all joined together To pick out their cover of plastic, fnot leatherj. Again the photographer came to take annual pictures, Putting together various and sundry mixtures. The F. H. A. girls had an October night meeting, While F, F. A, officers were trained in leading, All Seniors again were planning for spring. Their Senior class trip! Their last big fling! Again the Juniors were very busy Practicing their play till all were dizzy.

NOVEMBER In their play Mumbo Jumbo , the Juniors did their bestg While the Seniors were studying for their ACT tests. Our basketball boys started out really great, For beating Herscher we surely will rate. School was dismissed for Thanksgiving recess, 'Twas a time to praise God and show thankfulness, JANUARY Christmas vacation again comes to an end So back to school all students begin. New Year's resolutions were planned and fixed With all working toward a better nineteen sixty-six, No better way to start this new season Than by settling down to study and reason. The F. H. A. , their second bake sale did holdg In hopes of achieving more needed gold, Our Wildcats decided to start on a winning spree, But lost to the Rams and Coments who did not agree. And so a lull in activities is provided here All studying for semester exams which they fear, Students put aside the time on studies they had spent And looked eagerly forward to the county tournament. Although we lost the tournament and did not gain our dream, Gary Brown was chosen ninth for the All-Star team. To protect us from harmful bacteria and unsightly spots We all received our immunization shots, tc Q 'neu DECEMBER We did lose to Crescent on December third Although quite a fighting battle was heard, Many college-bound students were choosing the college right On the Eve of December sixth, County College Night. Betty Crocker tests were given--December 7 the date, Joyce Whitson, our winner, really did rate, At our Homecoming game we again met our fate, Our opponent was Sheldon, our chance a future date. Our Homecoming Dance was the best to be seen, And we crowned Paula Langellier our Homecoming Qleen. The story of Christmas was so nicely told In a Christmas Concert that our band did hold. The Juniors were working with many different lands Trying to come up with some unique Prom plans. The F. H. A. girls held their annual Tot Party Including a visit from Santa, hale and hearty, The day before Christmas vacation when all will part, We saw the movie, With a Song in My Heart . On December 27 our basketball team was sent To play in the Peotone Holiday Tournament.
