Ujqcers of Beta Club 'Q Mr. Shafer, Sponsor. The Beta Club, in its fourth year at Donovan High School, began the year with an enrollment of 30 members. Mr. Jerry Shafer was the club sponsor. Nine additional sophomores were inducted into the club at a candlelight ceremony held at a night meeting of the club in November. The meeting was attended by both the members and parents. A trip to Turkey Run, Indiana was taken by the Beta Club early in the fall. The club projects during the year included a doughnut sale, a book fair, decorating a bulletin board featuring the basketball schedule, rearranging and decorating some of the showcases, and providing trash cans for the lower halls and campus grounds. The highlight of the year was the State Beta Club Convention, held at Springfield from April 29 through April 30. A campaign was conducted to elect Joe Swanson as a candidate for State Beta President of the Convention. Members who attended were partially sponsored financially with funds from the club treasury, XX B N O I T333 En, NZ 272 ::1Z vgcu E4 .95 HFS Em wif' E5 Em .Z'!J ' P-3 555 r-S mm f-nv-1 g.. .1153 '53 na 32 Um cf-S.
