California State College, University of Pittsburgh Principa1's Message In this changing and complex world of ours, education is becoming more important and more in demand. The Class of 1965 has worked well and has established a fine record. We hope that all of its members now have an excellent foundation upon which to build their future. It may be higher education, armed forces, work, or some other phase in life. Nevertheless, we hope they will be able to meet the challenges of our swiftly changing civili- zation. We wish you well, unbounded success, and more expanding experiences. Wherever you go, whatever you do, always be proud that you were graduated from Donora High School. Row 1-W. Hanna, G. McClure, N. This is the year when the Dragon football team beat Charleroi! After a 10-year span of defeats at the hands of the Cougars, the victory was exhilirating. In fact, the Dragons started the season with three victories and a tie game before meeting with defeat. Injuries to key players were respon- sible for the last five defeats. Under the Ringgold School District for the first time this year, the Dragons were coached by James K. Russell, who marked his 34th year as the Dragon grid coach. Assisting Russell were Rudolph Andabaker, William Pykosh and Richard Mongelluzzo. Fullback Larry Crawford was chosen on the first team, ALL- WPIAL, and won honorable mention on the A11-State group and honorable mention on the high school All-American. Tackle Bill Urbanik was chosen on the honorable mention lists of the WPIAL and All-State teams and made the first team, All-American and Big 33. Both boys made the Big Six Conference team also, along with teammates Del Suppo, Dan Holloway and Wesley Sloan. Dan Holloway and Wesley Sloan. -,. Mr. David Wunderlich assumed his new role as the Jayvee and assist- ant basketball coach. Mr. Wunderlioh teaches at Donora Junior High. Although the season did not produce a win- ning team, the Dragons, under the capable tutelage of the new coaches, showed some sparkling basketball and improvement. The Dragons won the last game against Monon- gahela after losing to the same Wildcats earlier in the season. During the early season, the Dragons also suffered from injuries to Larry Crawford and to Buddy Windell. At one time Tom Kelly played several games while afflicted with a case of virus. Despite six fine victories over the season, and fifteen losses, the Dragon courtmen have much to be proud of since many of the losses were close struggles filled with suspense. Crusher Urbanlk leaps for the ball while teammates Tom Kelly and Larry Crawford look on. Guiding the team throughout the season were: Dave Wunderlich, Jayvee coachg Dr. Herk, principalg Francis LaMendola, Varsity coach. Hoopster Highlights Although injured during the season, Buddy Windell helped spark the team. Action Shots x,. Jlybl Fr' yo ' u f -' .1-f ' U .
