QUILL and SCROLL QUILL AND SCROLL is the highest honor that can be awarded a high school journalist. Membership in this organiza- tion is open to those people who have achieved outstanding recognition in publications and who have met the basic require- ments of the society. To be elected to QUILL AND SCROLL one must be of Junior or Senior standing. rank in the upper third of his class scholastically, have done outstanding work in editing, business managing, or writing: be recommended by the sponsor of the publication, and be approved by the Nation- al Office. One who is elected to QUILL AND SCROLL is a member for life. A copy of this old book is on file in your school library. For its day it was really quite a nice book with individual and group pictures student drawings and much interesting information. Our old high school build- ing that has just gone out of service this year, was new and shiny then. lt was one year old. So far as we know, there was no school annual published for some time after 1920. When it again appeared, it was called THE WARHOOP. Although it was a memographed book, it contained a great deal of information and cov' ered the events of the school year thoroughly. Our library has in its files several of these books. ln 1947 and I948 small hard backed books .vere published. Beginning in l948 our WARWHOOP took on the appearance it has today. Since that time it has been a book that shows up well in comparison with other high school yearbooks, and it has won awards several times in Valley competition. 56
