GP? fM Y NNW s A X? if Rosalee Joan Fritzre Betty Shirley Lucia Jean Culicchia Prather Champion Leak Garey Rocha Hill ,4 Zflbllfc' 0 U16 611155 Of 1954 By Rene Escobar As President of the Junior Class, I have the privilege of paying tribute to this fine Class of 1954 As a group they have gone far Scholastic averages for four of the students of this class were above 95 seven more had averages between 92 and 95 In sports this class was well represented, having a number of boys on the football team, a complete basketball team and a first place winning team of volleyball Other members were active in track one of them having won District in his field for three consecutive years Many organizations have chosen members of this class for sweethearts Some of these were the band the Future Farmers the Future Homemakers the Y Teens and the school choosing an Indian Sweetheart Representatives from this class were chosen to attend the Citrus Fiesta in Mission Lantana Coronation at Kingsville, and the Pan American Festival at Edinburg Seven members of this class were in the prize winning band this year One of them served as Drum Major for two years For the first time in the history of D H S members of this class held offices outside the Local District One of the members was President of the Valley Press Conference and was also Treasurer of the South Texas District Association of Student Councils Another member has held many responsible offices in the Future Farmers of America, both here at school and in the many State Areas He is now the State Vice President, which makes him eligible for the office of President next year The members of this class have been a congenial group A detailed account of their Senior Trip is good evidence of their social adjustment Splendid leadership has been shown but it has also been marked , by enthusiastic followers Thus it can easily be seen that the Class of 1954 has been an outstanding one, The community as well as the school will watch with pride as these class members go their separate ways to win more honors,
