Joy, Marietta. and East Donegal, were merged into the Donegal High School, Needless to say, this merger was most suc- cessful as the Seniors have proven, This year's class first entered school in 1943. As Sophomores they purchased class jackets bearing the name of their respective schools, As Juniors they bought class rings with the Donegal emblem. Also they took their individual class trips, The climax of their school life, the Senior year. has proved to be one of great activity. In the beginning of the year the following class officers were chosen: President--John Hiestand, Vice-President--Peter Nissley, Secretary--Karleen Raffensperger, Treasurer--Donald Raber. Historian--Alan Kugle. The class advisers are: Mrs, Burnight. Mrs, Day, Mr, Dotterer. and Mr, Richter, In October, during the Mt, Joy Farm Show, the Seniors operated two food stands. On December 1, 2, 3. and 4, the Seniors presented their play, Cheaper by the Dozen, directed by Mrs, Gingrich. which was a great success, Also this year, the Seniors were in charge of the school newspaper and Youth Day in Government, A class trip to the Lancaster Court House was the only one taken so far this year, Then too, the Seniors did an excellent job in preparing the initial issue of The Emerald, Now plans are being made for Commencement. a class trip. and a class day. Although they were only together for one year. the spirit of the Class of 1955 was impressive and it shallcontinue to live on through the years, , , , Alan Kugle A5525 A ygi' Historian ' f, KX 4' e' fi ' - , 5 P' ff A .
