Jada, Karen Jackson, Michael Campbell, Sandy Dorris, Pat Van Egmond, Iris Cracknell and Dick Poll- ard proudly exhibit their soap carvings after hours of toil. It would appear that our building architects, Gary Clair, Carlin Orr, Paul Alpert, and Mal- colm Evans are study- ing trame construction or checking to see if the ruler is straight. Mechanical drawing can be pretty confusing. However, it doesn't appear to be giving too much trouble to Jerry Rutta, Frank Nicholson, Dave Newson, Bob Mar- tin, Doug Field, John McMeekin, Jim Yoes or Craig Rutherford.

The concert band, working under their new director, Mr. Joseph Parker, has built a fine reputation. They gave the 'first winter concert in the history of the band, performed at the regional convention of Rotarians, gave a spring concert, and went to the band festival, where they were rated by a group of iuclges. Members also participated in marching band activities. wad dame, , cmd Plump and Qaamezfczace' Under the direction ot Mr. Kavafian, who came to Royal Oak from Turkey this year, the orchestra has been very active providing between-the-scenes music for the senior plays, Con vocation, and Commencement exercises. They performed at Christmas time over the radio, and presented two concerts which showed fine quality and musicianship. .23
