MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR Dear graduates: You have the honor of being the first of the 80's. These past four years have gone by quickly and now you are ready to begin again. Some of you will continue your education by enrolling in a college, some will join the millions of other Americans who work eight hours a day, and still others will pursue a career in the military. Whatever you do, wherever you go, all of you will be remembered here each day in our daily Masses. This may be a consoling thought in our society where little importance is attached to prayer and Christian living. l believe it is more important that you graduate from the Tech as an honest and Christian gentleman than having achieved top honors in your class. The world, the country has a great need for good Christians who will be capable of changing the moral direction of our faltering society. You can be these individuals for you are prepared to live and cope with the difficult problems of today. We do not feel our knowledge. Nothing could better describe ourcivilization. But knowledge without feeling is not knowledge and can only lead to public irresponsibility and indifference and conceivably to ruin. We cannot remain apart from the problems of today. We must use our God-given talents to change what must be changed, to improve what must be improved upon, to live together in peace and harmony no matter the cost to our pride and prejudice. We dare not waste the most important thing God has given us- our life. . Personal problems as well as difficulties facing our nation will never lessen or disappear if we do not meet them head-on and do something about them. You graduates inhirit the land and the problems ot the land. With God's help you will overcome what those before you could not conquer. With God's help all is possible.
