Through his aid and our cooperation We have been transformed from boys into men - men of Mary. Don Bosco students are encouraged to implore his assistance and gui- dance in their everyday lives because our patron, during his lite, was intensely interested in youth. We, as men of Bosco, have pursued our studies and fol- lowed our ideals with an invocation to St. Iohn Bosco to help us do our best. As the impressive school statue of him aided us in honoring his existence, may the 1953 annual be a means of thanking and revering our illustrious patron, Don Bosco. Through their vow of stability the Marianists have reached this spiritual elevation. Their state of life is a direct following of our Lady's call to action. Work on the Don began in September cmd was carried on throughout the year. A new system of distributing the various tasks by means of spe- cialization was introduced this year and proved very successful. Faculty guidance combined with numerous ideas originating from some fifty sen- iors brought about this issue. The chief inno- vations were the introduction of color and an increase in size. Special recognition must be given the Editor-in-Chief and his assistants. Their untiring efforts, smooth cooperation, and indi- vidual accomplishments have been united into what they hope will be an outstanding annual. K SALUTE T0 oun QUEEN ' AND Mon-:ER Queenship and maternity are both attributes of Mary. As members of the Mystical Body we are under her majestic rule and as children of God we belong to her spiritual motherhood. Conse- quently all our actions should be a means by which we develop our minds and bodies in her honor. Much of this maturity is attained through athletic competition. Aglll-L Varsity Football Rated in September as a darkhorse in the Catholic Conference, Don Bosco's 1952 Football Squad lived up to predictions. Coming up with two top-heavy victories against five small, marginal defeats, the Dons constantly showed the fighting spirit for which they are known. MR. Junior Varsity Playing a comparatively light schedule, the Iunior Varsity eleven nonetheless dis- played the talent that warrants its selection as a team with great possibilities. In com- piling a seasonal record of one win and two losses, the Iayvees played an interesting and inspirational brand of football. Freshmen Football Under the capable coaching of Bro. Henry Collins, S.M., the Frosh gridders were trained and thoroughly drilled in the funda- mentals of football. He was ably assisted by Don Klein, graduate of '49, as line coach. Encountering rugged competition, the Fresh- men were able to register one conquest and three setbacks.
