Foreword A book - a memorable batch of papers enclosed within a cover - is said not to be judged by its cover, but oft' times is. Our cover, an ornate one, pictures the sea upon which floats the ship of life. Look- ing down upon the vessel and guiding it to its final port of call is Mary - The Star Of The Sea. Written across the cover in rope is the name - The Bosconian. For those who do not judge a book by its cover, we have accompanied it with the above mentioned batch of papers which follow through with the nautical theme. It is by these papers and the recorded matter contained there in that we, the Senior Class of '56, sincerely hope you will judge the Bosconian. Blau 'Am-1 OFFICE. of THE DlilEC7OF RAMSU 9-0065 December 8 , l955 My dear Seniors: The feast of our Lady immaculate, patroness of our country and all Sale sian foundations, is a most appropriate date for me to pen these few remarks for your 1956 yearbook, the Bosconian. Besides being one of the largest graduating classes of your Alma Mater, you are the first senior class to have benefited from the use of lrnmaculata 1-La1l's modern facilities. Your gratitude for these opportunities should be expressed in your continued and intensified devotion to our immaculate Mother, the Help of Christians. The message l leave with you is based on the slogan or program of life left by St. John Bosco to his followers - the apostolate for the salvation of youth. This objective he incorporated in the brief prayer to Mary, recited three times every evening as follows: Dear Mother Mary, ever Virgin, help me to save my soul. May l exhort you never to omit this prayer, which serves as a constant reminder of the ultimate goal of your life f the salvation of your immortal soul. The prayers and merits of the vast Salesian family will always accompany you through life.
