Foreword A book - a memorable batch of papers enclosed within a cover - is said not to be judged by its cover, but oft' times is. Our cover, an ornate one, pictures the sea upon which floats the ship of life. Look- ing down upon the vessel and guiding it to its final port of call is Mary - The Star Of The Sea. Written across the cover in rope is the name - The Bosconian. For those who do not judge a book by its cover, we have accompanied it with the above mentioned batch of papers which follow through with the nautical theme. It is by these papers and the recorded matter contained there in that we, the Senior Class of '56, sincerely hope you will judge the Bosconian. These pages contain the joys and tribu- lations of the school year, the activities which have taken place during that time and the people who have made them possible. Contents x 'Ve Ca. KX. Blau 'Am-1 OFFICE. of THE DlilEC7OF RAMSU 9-0065 December 8 , l955 My dear Seniors: The feast of our Lady immaculate, patroness of our country and all Sale sian foundations, is a most appropriate date for me to pen these few remarks for your 1956 yearbook, the Bosconian. Besides being one of the largest graduating classes of your Alma Mater, you are the first senior class to have benefited from the use of lrnmaculata 1-La1l's modern facilities. Your gratitude for these opportunities should be expressed in your continued and intensified devotion to our immaculate Mother, the Help of Christians. The message l leave with you is based on the slogan or program of life left by St. John Bosco to his followers - the apostolate for the salvation of youth. This objective he incorporated in the brief prayer to Mary, recited three times every evening as follows: Dear Mother Mary, ever Virgin, help me to save my soul. May l exhort you never to omit this prayer, which serves as a constant reminder of the ultimate goal of your life f the salvation of your immortal soul. The prayers and merits of the vast Salesian family will always accompany you through life. That your days may abound in blessings and God's grace is the sincere prayer of Yours affectionately in Christ, K J . Father H nry A. Sarnowski. S.D.B. Director 'Gr -'inn-.4-Q--W-r FATHER HENRY A. It is a joyous occasion. But also a sorrowful one. It is sorrowful because we are leaving - leaving something behind -a part of us - memories, laughter, and schemes - leaving a school which has been a home for four years. Somewhere along the way we have fallen in debt - a debt which we can only be repaid by success in life and a final balancing of the books Cin heavenb - This debt is owed to Father Director, Father Prefect, Father Catechist, Father Prefect of Studies and the Fathers and Brothers of Don Bosco. For their spontaneous assistance we will always be grateful. THE SENIOR CLASS OF '56 Acknowledgements We are especially indebted to Father Director and the rest of the faculty, especially Brother Bob Ferguson, our moderator, and Brother H. Peterson whose typing assistance was invaluable, who have helped make the Bosconian a success, and we wish to express our gratitude too, to the student body for their coopera- tion and patience. We also wish to thank Mr. Harvey Lawshe of the Progress Associates, Inc. for his advice in planning and to Mr. jacques Saphier for his donation of time and pictures which add life to these pages, to our parents to whom we have dedi- cated the Bosconian, and to our most generous benefactors and patrons whose contributions have enabled us to produce our yearbook.
