Roundhead Ramblings IU Babs Tonight isn't really differentg everywhere I look I see 'smiles and shining eyes, that usual Roundhead spontaneity. There are seven minutes to say seventy things-then the bellg this one ringing for our last rally. I have the same feeling inside of me which I've had all year Qsomeone told me it's caused by extra- ordinary Roundhead Spirit, an epidemic which one hundred girls, a superior sponsor, and a wise ole parrot had all yearj. The funny thing about this spirit is the way it kept popping up. Parrots were all over fone in particular eating Cavalier piejg thumbs were stuck up and something called a Roundhead Shake happenedg fathers and mothers joined in the feeling-no one could resist! The bell is going to ring and I still haven't said much . . . maybe words aren't very important, maybe it's just the feelings inside which count. I hope so, be- cause these last, and we all have the same ones for the ssc. 'Basis Se' same reason-wc're Roundheads! l Spiritflled, amz-playing Cavaliers can do more than just cheer. Ci3.Vl2ilICI' Chatter bf jeanne It began when my name was drawn from a cup. Then I, too, joined in with C-A, G-A, C-A-V-A, bursting from room 6 every Thursday, emerging from the gym, and drifting down the halls. I remember the swim-meet, my Hrst experience in team competition, the hockey game, and then volleyball and basketball with clever decorations. I remember seeing Oscar perched on his roost at the Last Rally, taking in the spirit on the face of each Cavalier. Now four years have passed, and I can look back at three other Last Rallies. The Cavaliers have really had their share of glory, so it's no wonder that the spirit of the Red and White affects each member of the team just as it has always done me. You'll find us on all the courts and in Room 1. We are experts in the art of spiking and pros at the free shot line. Ours is the responsibility of putting up volleyball nets, checking athletic equipment and pushing the unwieldy hockey cart to gym. But our main function is to introduce new students to the Roundhead and Cavalier teams, and later to award the Cup and individual honors. But here you see us doing what comes naturally, having fun. Claudia Rees invited us to come aboard her dad's boat, the To Ho Ho. Naturally, we took Oscar and Pepper along. Having arrived at the boat, we decided to take pictures. Oscar and Pepper disappeared and so weren't in these pictures. Although they were out of sight, the mascots hadnit put us out of mind. Little did we know that Pepper and Oscar were cooking up some fun of their own. Their plans completed, Pepper and Oscar began to surround the managers. G.A.A. had decided to go swimming, and all donned their suits. But the managers lacked the courage to brave the chilly waters, and it appeared that no one would get wet. Then Pepper and Oscar went to work. Amid shouts and laughter, all managers were splashed by the fun-loving birds. Everyone wet, the mascots rolled on the deck with laughter. Convulsed, our friends didn't notice the silence gathering around them. Then, with a few muffled squawks, Pepper and Oscar were ceremoniously dropped overboard. The ice broken, all joined the two birds for a refreshing dip. That gathering took place on a typical sunny day. But we also gathered together on a more solemn occa- sion, to choose our successors to the highly revered posts in G.A.A. 201
