Y 5 Dominican- Qur Heritage of Growth We came. And now we leave, but this is not good- bye. For Dominican has changed us, has given a bit of herself to us and a part of us remains here, too. She offered us, immature though we were, the oppor- tunity to discover her essence and the very essence of life, she let us find the roots of wisdom, truth, and beauty and we cherished them well. And soon we could not help but love Dominican and we grew, well-sheltered, the new shoots, unsure yet straight and strong, leapt from her venerable roots. As our ideas and thoughts matured so did Domini- can within us and we grasped more fully our purpose here. The young tree soon blossomed, and by appre- ciating our great gift and using it well, we tried in some small way to repay the giver. And now We leave. We hope we have grown well and go away strengthened in our beliefs, able to break away and yet, perhaps, apprehensive. But though we stay no longer, Dominican will always be with us and we shall never lose her heritage of growth. tsl

Our Roots Are Deeply Planted, Firmly Entrenched The one thing that impresses us about Dominican is the emphasis and concentration on the things of consequence. Truth, knowledge, virtue, beauty: their very presence has instilled in us a love for them and a desire for their fruits. We cannot leave such things behind us because their magnitude has in some way touched us, association leads to acceptance and then to familiarity and soon we develop our character and continue to grow with these as our foundation. Truth. Veritas. Every man seeks truth in God and in His world. Knowledge. Wisdom. At Dominican we find that studying is not an end in itself but rather a means to approach that precious possession, wisdom. Virtue. Goodness. We see the necessity of goodness and find around us the assistance we need to attain it. Beauty. Loveliness.
