In order to test her oral-aural progress, Betty Baran makes a private recording from the master tape. From C2, DC,s language classroom, flows a con- stant stream of language-Spanish, that is, the modern secretary,s second language. The combination-lecture room and laboratory-expedites the play and inter- play of all the basic elements in the study of language: teacher, student, tape, record, books, blackboard, test- ing, and visual aids. Time, all precious forty-five min- utes of it, is saved, for with the stretch of one,s arm a head set can be reached. With the flick of a switch a program can be had, and since student progress is far from uniform, the simultaneous but private play of different-leveled programs takes care of the listen- ing needs of all. Teacher's modeling while students watch and listen, is followed by students' listening to and imitating their second teacher, the master tape. Individual student microphones give the teacher the means of listening in privately to each and of correcting each one,s spe- cific faults Without halting the progress of the class.

To develop the Christlike attitude towards Codls will, one's neighbor, and all life situations and problems was a major feature of Dominican's RELIGION platform. Looking backward to the Scriptures and forward to Heaven, students made ready to accept the now of Christ's redemp-tive work. Thus they studied about the Church, the Mystical Christ, which carries forward the work of salvation. The Sacraments, Codls saving actions in the present, came in for special scrutiny. Likewise did the Ten Command- ments, the guides to genuine happiness, receive careful treat- ment. The meaning of the state of grace, the concept of sin grew clearer in a frank analysis of teenage life today. All studied the liturgy and laid plans for intelligent participa- -tion in every phase of the Church year. With their goals set in the business world, where pagan principles and crass materialism run rampant, students worked hard at developing the correct sense of Christian values, at expanding those ideas, attitudes, and habits which will equip them to live as Christ would have them live. Imbued with the fresh air streaming from Vatican Council II, they listened, read, and discussed ecumenism. They saw how good example and intelligent dialogue may lead souls to the path of salvation. 4? y:,s,-:gyg t , Sister Jean Margaret, O.P.
