The things we write about have, in essence, happened. Our aim is not to embar- rass individuals, but to stimulate thought — and, we hope, action. This is a picture of w hat peo- ple consider Dominican Col- lege to be. However, this is not what we, the students, think of it! True, Dominican has been growing in size at a rapid rate, but it does not encompass the entire Rockland community, nor is the county wrapped up in Dominican College. Rather, we think of D.C. as having reached its adolescence and is ever-growing: within you and without you. So as we lift our sleepy eyes to face the rising sun and the dawning of Do- minican, the Aubade presents to ‘you 2... ... The Dominican College Therefore, we dedicate the first edition of Aubade Endowed with the rather formal name — Aubade — we, in tracing the school year 1970-71, have come up with a rather informal yearbook. We have caught some of the less elusive moments of the year and we hope that in your personal reflec- tions you will fill in and color these pages with your own ex- periences. If we can prove to be instrumental in triggering some good or bad, happy or sad memories, then we will feel that long, all- night yearbook meetings and the unavoidable tensions of put- ting this together will have been worth it. N.B. To those of you who haven't caught on yet, “Only that day dawns to which we are awake.” Thoreau HOMIAIST RAT [Of SR. Her all-seeing, all-knowing i uncanny pow- ers were always felt. Her duties a chores were han- dled extraordinarily well by her three accomplices Jennifer, Donna and Frank. On Mary’s return from the land of appendix, hos- pitals and many highfalutin pills, things once again became normal or abnormal (depending on how you take Mary). Of course, her picture will never take the place of the real Mary Dean. Be careful Frank! You never know what she will do next. Thus we might say he deceives. The photographer has but what is there to work with in his art, but what of his tools? Light and lense are his language and those of us here who chose to delve into this discipline have created a society of the camera. What do we call this society? The Photography Club. The President of the Con- ference for this year is Robert Macken, D.C. coach. The member colleges are: Dominican College, Edward Wil- liams, Englewood Cliffs, Luther, Mercy, and St. Thomas Aquinas. At the end of the basketball season, D.C. emerged victorious with 9 wins and | loss. A tremendous trophy is now in the proud possession of D.C. This tro- phy will rotate each year to the winner of the conference unless one team wins for 3 years in a row, then the tro- phy will be retained by that team.
