NINTH-GRADE PROPHECY CContinuedj 'Our neict stop was England, where we saw Sherwin Cogan had made his fortune in becoming the Sherlock Holmes of Scotland Yard. From here we journeyed on into France and down to Paris. Whom should we see but Bonnie Johnson doing one of her several musical triumphs in Paris. We also locatedPatNealey and the two of them gave us their version of Slaughter on Tenth Avenue. Onward' we journeyed to Spain. Here we visited Nancy Scheele and Barbara Rothman, who were making a tour with Carmen , The two of them had become quite successful for together they had composed some of the grandestvmusic in the country. We were now headed for India. We were wondering whom we might bump into. Well, to tell the truth we ran into nobody. Evidently not any of the class of 1950 found India desirable. We were at this point headed for the Orient. We at last made it to Shanghai, China, where we found Glenda Wilson and Barbara Cunningham on a tour to help the children of the foreign countries get ac- quainted with American ways of living. Next we headed for Tokyo only to find Betty Jo I-lenshaw, who seemed quite satisfied with the state of affairs. 'Leaving Japan, we were now on our way to Hawaii. Here we saw Joe Welch and Ross Fraser at the head of the Athletic Division in the Hawaiian schools. We also saw Elissa Calabrese entertaining at the Royal Canadian Hotel with a hula dance. Remember the hula outfit she wore to the Halloween Dance back in 1949? We now had to bid Aloha to Hawaii and start for California. Our first stop here was Hollywood. Among the celebrities we saw was our school chum Barbara Pitcher. Babs now had the name of Babs Lalviour. She had just received an Academy Award. Also among the big names was that of Judy Lewis. Judy was the nation's top model, with plenty of incoming dough. As we journeyed up the West Coast, we stopped at San Francisco. We found Ray Todd, who had now become the most -sought after artistin the country. We had to leave Ray and head' on up to Seattle, Washington, where we bought plane tickets for South Dakota. While we were killing time, we ran into Pearl Thorman and Nina Anderson. Together they were quite successful in the lumber business. As we passed the airline building, we saw Bertie Forcum, now TWA's Airline Hostess Commander. Bertie had the hostesses for our trip well-trained. Whom should we find on board the same plane but Janice Davis. Jan had just finished her latest novel and had proved to all of us that she could surely write. At long last we landed in South Dakota and dropped in on Bob Baldwin, who was head of the forestry division in this part of the country and had the forestry situation well in hand. We caught a plane to New York. Landing after several hours, we decided to drop around to Yankee Stadium and see the Yanks at work. In the lineup were Chuck Toftoy and Jack Scolaro, both now tops in the American League. At nightfall we headed for Broadway once more. While walking along, we literally bumped into Mary Martin'Davis. Mary had become the star reporter for the New York Times. We accepted Mary's invitation to come up to the Times building to see the press at work. Who should be Editor but Delmar Springer. The paper was in fine shape Cas the New York Times always isj. An unexpected phone call brought word of a scoop , which Mary went to cover. As it turned out, the famed OlympiC Champ and the nation's top golfer for the past five years was in town, none other than Robyn Girard. Robyn hadn't changed a bit. Happy Hansen arrived on the scene as a top fashion expert and wanted Robyn to endorse one of her latest creations. Happy was happily married with four children. When time came to leave, we boarded the plane to Washington. After all I CJeff Dennislhad n big million-dollar business deal awaiting me in the Capital city. --Janice Nicely and Jeff Dennis

L. HOME ECONOMICS CLUB The Home Economics Club of '49-'50 started and accomplished the task of becoming an affiliated chapter of the F. H. A., this being the first one in Dolly Madison Jr. High School. We have worked on many projects among which were a luncheon for the teachers, a hot-dog sale, and toy-making for Children's Hospital. NINTH GRADE PROPHECY This prophecy is an account of a trip around the world byjanice Nicely andjeff Dennis. Janice is jeff's secretary. The year is 1965. The yacht on which we were to travel was designed by the famed architect, Wally Sherertz. The ship's doctor was none other than Madison's old class president, Porter Claxton. His wife, a nurse, was the former Anne Hannegan. The ship was placed under the guiding hand of Commo- dore J. P. Googe. . Our first stop after we left Washington, D. C., was New York. While walking down the streets of old Broadway, we stopped to see Pat Moran in her latest triumph at the Imperial Theater. For dinner that night we went to the Stork Club, whete featured as guest songstress was Norma Marsh- all. Norma really wowed 'em with her love songs. The next day, while passing down Wall Street, we saw the bank in which Charles Lynn had made a success. Well! Well! Well! Csee next pagel
