Future Business Leaders of America The Dollarway Chapter of the FBLA was formed in November, 1957. Mrs. Ruth Roberts, whose idea sparked the club, is sponsor. The pur- pose of the FBLA is to develop competent, aggressive business leader- ship, to create more understanding and interest in choosing business occupations, and to strengthen the confidence of FBLA members in themselves and their work. The club, getting off to a good start, voted on and carried out two projects. The one most remembered by the members happened at Christmastime when they gave boxes of food and clothing to a very needy family. Their other project, appreciated by the faculty, was carried on throughout the year as members offered their time to do typing and bookwork for the teachers. 45 Q Lola Taylor, FBLA President. 0009 90000 00609 000009 Lil 'Q

Student Council The Student Council is made up of one elected representative from each homeroom in school from the seventh through the twelfth grades, plus the council president who must be a senior and who is elected by the student body. The purpose of the council is to represent the student body and to promote leadership and responsibility among its members and all students. The council, sponsored by Miss Ann Jiannas, is always one of the most active organizations on the campus. This year they sponsored the con- cession stand at the ball games, published a new Student Body Handbook to help students better understand the rules and regulations of our school, took part in the Teens for Polio Drive, and gave a Salk Sock Hop to help in the fight against stamping out polio. Most students will remember this party where the price of admission was that each guest had to have had at least one polio shot. 44
