He then a trended the college now known as UW-Eau Claire holding majors in math and science. He received his diploma in 1940. After teaching all subjects in a Stone Lake school, Mr. Dahl moved into a position teaching math at Ladysmith Junior High. This job lasted for one year. His service in the army began in June, 1942 and lasted for three years. He was stationed in the South Pacific until November, 1945. In January 1946, Mr. Dahl went to UW-Madison to receive a Master's Degree in philosophy and school administration. In September 1946. he began teaching at Ju- neau High School. He also furthered his educa- tion by attending summer sessions in 1959, 1977, and 1976 at the University of Buffalo and UW- River Falls. He received his Masters Degree in math in 1965. Mr. Dahl was also on the WIAA Board of Controls for several years. He served as president from 1970-71. Mr. Norman Dohl A reflection on his career at Dodgeland: Mr. Dahl began reaching at Juneau High School, which later became Dodgeland High School, in September of 1946. He taught classes in math, general science, chemistry, and physics. He also coached football, basketball, and base- ball until 1954, when he became principal. While principal, he taught one math class. In 1971, he went back to the classroom to teach math classes. After giving 36 years of his life to the Juneau and Dodgeland High Schools, Mt. Dahl has decided to retire. We, the students of D.H.S., would like to wish him happiness and good luck in his retire- ment. We would also like to show our apprecia- tion by dedicating the 1961-62 yearbook to Mr. Norman Dahl. 2 Dedication Table Of Contents Seniors 5-20 Underclassmen 21-00 Administration Faculty 01-08 Sports 09-60 Clubs Organizations 61-82 Events 80-98 Student Life 99-104 Ads Cj Index 105-120 Songs In The Key Of Life Executive Producers: Paulette Schrab, Debbie Bauer Assistant Engineers: Annette Schrab. The coaching techniques or procedures that I use during each football season vary little from year to year: it's the mate- rial that I hove to work with that separates a championship team from a second or third place team. Ability, mental state of readiness, desire, and leader- ship ore the ingredients that make the dif- ference. This year I was fortunate to be the head football coach of a team that had all of these qualities. Our football ream had the God-given gift of being good athletes, not only physically but mentally os well. Their mental readiness (Intensity) for each game was physically evident week offer week. Their desire to win and be successful is a lesson that will not be left on the ploying field, but will be carried with all of them for the rest of their lives. From a coaching standpoint, leadership is that intangible ingredient that cannot be taught. Teams that have strong leodersip ore inevitable winners: teams that lock strong leadership will be lost in the middle of the pack. emphasized the slogan De first, not lost. from the first day of practice on through to the state playoff gome with Kohler. Self-motivation and the drive to be the best one can be is on important factor in on individuals life - possibly the most important factor. Prior to the Kohler gome, we sot down and talked about what to expect In the game. I told our squad members that Win or lose, we ore winners. Over a period of months. I feel that have established a close bond with this ream, but in my mind, all the teams have been winners-regardless of records. We live in a society that places a lot of emphasis on records. When using records os a yardstick, this team will definitely be a winner In the eyes of our society. This team won more gomes in one season than any other team In our school's history. It scored more points (347) and allowed the fewest points (43) than any other team during my coaching career or Dodgeland. It is the first ream In our school's history to hove the experience of ploying for the state championship. This group of men also earned 12 positions on the Eastern Suburban Conference all-conference-ream—6 first-ream picks and 6 second- team picks- which is also a school record. All of these accomplishments depict the enormous success that these young men experienced during the 1981 football season. A long standing belief of mine is that you con win football games with underclassmen, but you win championships with seniors. Along with all f of the excitement and joyous times that occurred during this season. I also experienced a sense of loss. Thor loss Involves the 11 seniors who hove played their last game for DHS. These men have a special meaning for me because, like me. they hove experienced the agony of defeat os well os the thrill of victory. For the past three years, they are the men who have built our program. This has been a tremendous challenge for them and like true champions, they not only rose up to meet this challenge, but they conquered it. To these seniors, I say Thank you for being part of our program. 'My hope is that our football program has made you a better person. I believe that our greatest challenge is before us. This ultimate challenge is the task that faces our underclassmen — to carry on the winning Trojan tradition. I know from post experience that through personal commitment and sacrifice, they will rise up and meet this challenge. — Coach Keuler Football 43 1932 ESC Conference Champs Changing Tires Nice Tackle R Itch I Help from the sideline Don't look behind you Tim! i 44 FootboH Hit Me With Your Best Shot VARSITY VOLLEYBALL FRONT ROW: Jolene Vick, Trlclo Lompe. Well, now my English is not too good, but it is better. I came from a big city and this difference has brought to me a lot of new experiences. For example, the cows heightened me when I sow them stand in the snow. I thought they were frozen. I never knew they stood still like statues and I had my mother explain to me. That's bod, but . . I have met a lot of people; and when I go back. I really will miss everybody. This is a great experience because we can exchange emotions and ideas, learning and teaching about other countries. The weather is so different and I had a lot of fun snowmobUing. sledding and ice-skating for the first time, and I think I did pretty good. I only fell twenty times in about one hour ice-skating. It is a good record, don ’t you think so? The parties, football, cheerleaders, and the school system too. is totally different than in Brazil and sometimes it is hard to understand this. I suppose when you will be reading this letter. I will be back in Brazil. I can imagine how hard it will be for me to say good-bye to the wonderful people I have met here. I will never forget each one of you because you hove become a part of my life. I have a good impression of D.H.S. and I want to soy thanks to all the teachers who have helped me so much. A very special thank you for my family because many of the things I learned, was only because of them. Thank you for a great experience and for receiving me with your smile. I hope when I am in Brazil. I receive a letter from you. My address IS: Regina Lucia de Mottos Ruo Hum. No.548 Bairro Campestre. SontoAndr'e Sao Paulo - Brazil 09000 Mil beijos. I wanted to visit the USA and be part of the American society. I was very impatient to leave Sweden and right now I can really understand why. I’ve hod a great time in school. There were, of course, some days that were tough and hard to pull through; but I had the help from all the nice students and the great teachers. This year has helped me. I think to look or things in a different manner and to become more mature. The year has given me a lor of experiences and I hope that I've shared some with you here. Sports were probably what I enjoyed most. I had a great time In cross-country, football and basketball. There is just one thing that really bothers me. and that is that have to leave in June. My only mistake was that I thought I would get away from the cold winters in Sweden, but I was very wrong. Once again thanks to you all. Jokko. AFS Sweden. 84 AFS A-V CLUD-KNEELING: Orion Rahn. Dut, with the help of our small, hard-working staff, Mrs. Neumann. Mr. Rambow, and the support of local advertisers, we have finally made it. 'Me hope this book shows the activities and happenings of this school accurately. Me have tried to capture the atmosphere of this school as a whole, as well as the personalities of its individuals. We are very proud to be able to present the first color pages in the Reflection's history. We hope you have enjoyed them, as well as the entire 1982 yearbook. Paulette Debbie
