Dedication It is with special honor that the first year of Dodgeland High should also com- memorate the 25th year of service to the field of education by Mr. Norman Dahl. Through the 25 years of service to education in our community as an in- structor, guidance counselor, coach, principal, and above all, friend; through your desire and eagerness that all of us should attain the highest goal of person- al satisfaction; through your contact with those students who have observed and felt the need for sympathy, sincer- ity, understanding, and patience; and through your dedicated efforts to the student body, it is with sincere pride and honor that this yearbook be dedicat- ed to you, Mr. Dahl. Connie Kuehl, Tom Gundrum, and Rita Richards, in addition to the above students, were chosen last fall on their scholastic ability to compete for the four positions on our team. After a try-out of a series of timed rapid-fire questions, Bob Buschkopf, Russ Sette, Mary Lacaeyse, and Bev Gemetzke, as the alternate, were chosen to go to Milwaukee for the contest. After an exciting half hour, our team came out on top against a tough troop from Mil- waukee South Division High. Unfortunately, we lost by five points in the second phase of com- petition against the Brookfield East High School. Special thanks is given to our coaches Mrs. Brieman, Mr. Edming, and Miss Wubben who gave us a great deal of their time and encourage ment. We have faced many new problems in the student body, meeting new people, making new friends, and enjoying every minute of it. The Student Council furnished a suggestion box to overcome the difficulties and to improve the school and its environment. The members of Student Council also sponsored a very successful Christmas program, which was enjoyed by everyone. It included a skit by the new teachers and something to eat and drink for everyone. We helped organizations such as the March of Dimes and had a cloth- ing drive for people in South America. We worked hard around Homecoming time, decorat- ing the gym and organizing a fun night for all present. Members also sponsored a live dance which was a big hit. All in all, the Council members will have to agree that this was a very impressive and exciting year for the Student's Leaders . The floats were dec- orated to the themes of popular song titles, the band marched in-step through town, and the pep rally added to the already ris- ing school spirit. The Dodgeland Trojans were victorious in the Homecoming game and the dance was enjoyed by all. ROYAL COUPLE QUEEN KING Debbie Gary Draheim Matuszeski The music was appreciated by all! Who's Down? The Guilty Generation Sue Cramer, Marian Teson, Karen O'Connor, Janeen Schultz, Russ Sette, Mike Schultz, Ralph Sharp, and Mike Thoma. This year we presented three plays. The first play entitled What Shall We Tell Caroline? , directed by Mrs. Brieman, dealt with parents who had a diffi- cult time communicating with their teen-age daughter. She seldom spoke and found an interest in little things that most people take for granted. The play entitled Youth Adds A Dash of Pepper , direct by Miss Dietrich, was a comedy situation concerning the problems of a young waitress turning a slumy restaurant into a respectable place with the help of her knight in shiny armor. The final play The Guilty Generation was directed by Mr. Edming. This play had eight people who believed that they were the only living people left on the earth. They lived in caves and had to revert to a means of existence simi- lar to that of their earlier ancestors. This play went on to the sub-district contest. 0 n e A c t P 1 a y s Forensics FRONT ROW: Sherry Steffen, Ann Hemmy, Ralph Sharp, Mike Thoma, Steve Kasper, Patti Becker. Through the club, they attain the knowledge necessary to get their ham radio operator's license. This group of girls proved themselves invaluable in the production of the school year's theatrical events. They pro- vided the scenes and props that were so necessary in order to make the various pro- ductions successful and, of course, so colorful. Stage Crafts FRONT ROW: Linda Sette, Jean Landsee. The garden, combined with the beautiful music of Ray Wifler and his orchestra, provided an enchanting realm for Queen Sandi and King Steve. BACK ROW: Rita Richards, Joani Kaeding, and Lois Braunschweig. Ten girls combined their energy and ability to support their team and arouse school spir- it. The purpose of the cheerleaders is to promote school spirit at Dodgeland High School ath- letic events. All the cheerleaders feel that, although there could have been a little more school spirit, the over-all school spirit was strong and truly helpful to all the boys who par- ticipated in sporting events, whether it was football, basketball, wrestling, track, or base- ball. By cooperating with the cheerleading squads, the student body can become more in- volved with the school athletic events. Through cooperation one also gains pride in their school, and any school needs that. From here on, we want to hear you out there rootin!!! Highlighting this year's effort: a 99 point performance against Lodi, three straight vic- tories over arch rival Horicon, a near upset of fifth ranked Waterloo in the district tournament finals, and the selection of Dale Matuszeski and John Duffy to the all-conference team. The Trojan trackmen met with strong competition in the Flyway Conference this year. However, the team is young and most of the load was maintained by freshmen and sophomores, sparked by the leadership and examples set by their upperclassmen. Records broken this year were: the shot-put by Joe Bronner with his 51’2 1 2 toss, the discus also broken by Joe Bronner with a 145’4 throw, and the pole vault tied by Chuck Schultz with an 11' vault. Both record breakers were seniors. Strike Three— You’re Out! FRONT ROW: Patrick O'Connor, Bob Jaeck, Chuck Selchert, Tom Jaeck, Mike Korth, Dave Kranz. The Trojans turned on late in the season fin- ishing with a 4-9 record. Leading hitters were Pat O' Connor, John Duffy, Chuck Selchert, and leading batter Bob Jaeck. Pat O' Connor was also leading pitcher with all 4 victories and a great earned run average of 2.79. Charlie Selchert stole 11 bases in 12 attempts. The Trojan Nine ended the season with a 12-4 defeat in tournament play against Lomira. However, they fought hard throughout the game, and it's this spirit that assures us that there is a lot of promise for next year, even though the team will be losing five seniors: John Duffy, Chuck Selchert, Bob Petry, Bob Jaeck, and Le- land Kottwitz. 59 Cross Country LEFT TO RIGHT: Craig Kadinger, William Wetherbee, William Dahl, Jerry Ninmann, Robert Buschkopf, Michael Schultz, Steve Kasper, Mr. Buteyn, Coach. Over hill, over dale, we will hit the grassy trail as the joggers go jogging along. A new sport hit DHS this year. Six boys participated and found the sport of chasing deer and birds in the back forty during practice and meets quite interesting. Fresh air and the wide open spaces were only a few of the benefits of this individual sport. Meets are run over the hills and valleys in a distance of 2.2 miles. Golj Chopping grass is a term golfers use when practicing. Taking a divot is a golfer's term used when a good shot usually takes place. These 14 boys learned the basic techniques from much hard work and parctice under their coaches. A letter sport now at DHS, these boys really have had something to compete for in being one of the starting five. Coaches of the different sports identified their letter winners for the season. The speaker for the even- ing was Duane Kleven, wrestling coach at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Mr. Kle- ven gave an inspiring talk about the characteristics of winners. Joe Bronner topped off his senior year by being selected as the Outstanding Senior Athlete of DHS and the recipient of the W Club Award. Joe was awarded Most Valuable Player in football and wrestling, was co- captain of the wrestling team, and was the only member of the track team to participate in the State Track Meet. Fagan Our Fate, Unknown HONOR STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS Adding the final touches. The touch of a friend. Honored Guests Girls' Sexette School is made up of naive, gullible freshmen, vengeful, semi- cool sophomores, proud, experienced juniors, and confident-- sometimes all-too-confident seniors. Let us not forget the teach- ers, who lead us from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge, the school help, who see to it that the school building doesn’t crumble between the hours of 8 and 4 each day, the ad- ministration for providing us with our curriculum and tests, and the parents, without whose cooperation none of the above would exist. The previous paragraph tells you what makes up our school, now let's see what school really is: SCHOOL IS... , a place where you are accused of cheating the minute you move your head while writing a test. . when all the teachers give homework at the same time and you wanted to go out that night. , getting mugged in the halls. . burning something in Home Ec. that you have to eat anyway. , dropping all your books in the hall when you have on your mini- skirt. , when Mr. Krentz says you have to do 20 push-ups and you can't even do one. , being told to keep your love life out of school and you don’t have a love life. , when you have all the answers but one and that's the one you're asked. , getting up at 7 and finding out it's Saturday. , when you get caught chewing gum and you just put it in. , when you have to go to the lavatory and the teacher doesn't be- lieve you. , eating at school and getting sick. , sitting with a girl in biology. ... FINE—at 3:15!!!!! In this, the first year of Dodgeland Senior High, the staff of REFLECTIONS hopes its bigger, better yearbook was one worth waiting for. We know it was one worth putting together. To the seniors, best wishes and good-bye. To the juniors, have a blast your last year. To the sophomores, make prom the best you can. To the freshmen, better luck and try to take it easy on the new freshmen. 00DGELATO • t t Jr ■■k • • ■. ■■i • ■ -
