THE SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The Class of '56 began its glorious reign in 1953 as sophomores. They were well represented by their class officers: Charles Martin, president, Sam Elliott, vice-presidentg Norva Crider, secretary- treasurerg and Nan Johnson, Student Council representative. They pleased a good-sized audience that fall with three one-act plays called His Momma's Boy, The Laughing Ghost, and Summer Comes to the Diamond O. Karen Crawford was the onl Demon cheerleader that ear, while Austin Hutton and Norva Crider clieered for the Cowboys. iilan Johnson and Karen Crawford were football queen's attendants, and Lavone Lembright was attendant to the basketball queen. For their junior year they elected Sam Elliott, president, Kent McConnell, vice-presidentg Karen Crawford, secretartyg Sue Freeman, treasurerg Jim Hiner, Student Council representative or the class officers. For their annual pla they chose Line of Scrimmage, which thoroughly confused the footballl issue. Austin Hutton and Sam Elliott represented the class as Demon cheerleaders, and Karen Crawford and Norva Crider were Cowboy cheerleaders. Connie Richardson was elect- ed carnival queen, with Bev Turner as attendant. Jody Main was foot- ball queen's attendant and Bev Turner was an attendant to the basketball queen. The juniors were hosts to the seniors in the spring at the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. They gave a Cinderella's Ball. As seniors the group ruled with the grandeur of kings--and queens. Class officers were chosen. Eldon Miller as president was superb. Able assistants were the following people: Dean Luallen, vice- resi- dentg Carolyn Denton, secretary, Karen Crawford, treasurer, ieon Crawford, Student Council representative. For cheerleaders the class chose Bev Turner and Austin Hutton. Nan Johnson reigned as football queen with Jody Main attending. The football team won the W, C, K, L, championship. Kent McConnell was made the All-State quarterback. At carnival time, Paula Able was chosen queen. Norva Crider and Marlene Obholz were queen's attendants. Lavone Lembright was basketball queen. The seniors chose Fog Island as their annual class play. They cast aside their senior dignity at their senior picnic and went on to regain it at Baccalaureate on May 20. The biggest event in their lives so far occurred on May 25, when they crossed the stage to receive their coveted diplomas. 8
