I nexei saw thailie unhappy He always had a smile Oh L od couldnt you have let him stzv hven Just for a while Ill newer feel that Lharlles really gone 'lhat hes gone away to stay I know that I ll catch myself won deiing If hell come and see me today Lharlie used to come by after me On the way to school each day But now Ill have to w 'ilk alone Since Lharlies gone away I never knew Lharlie to ,rumble or gripe He could always meet with a smile lhe things that other men Must always meet with strife Lharlie and I walked home together Every day at noon And somehow the hours passed more quickly When I knew that I d see him soon how that same walk home Is awfully long and dreary Because when Oharlie was along He always kept it cheery. I wish that Charlie could be here And see all the friends hes made Then I d know that he wouldnt worry Or feel lonesome or afraid. And if somewhere up in heaven Oharlie should hear this too, Then Id like to thank him For being the best pal that I ever knew.
