Then fell the bomb- shell. All Freshmen would stay at junior High School. Imagine! Freshmen in high school at junior High!!! But the year 1947-48 wasn't too bad. We were looked up to by junior High students, because we were really in high school. Then in the fall of 1948, some two hundred excited Sophomores roamed the halls of Dobyns- Bennett High School. At last we were there. We became the proverbial green Freshmen. We sat in our classes and watched the construction of the new building far more than we did our teachers. That year many of us decided that brick laying was the job for us. Suddenly, in 1949. we found ourselves Juniors. The new building was complete. Dignified Seniors and green Freshmen alike wandered around lost. We laughed to see the Seniors, so undignified. On August 31, 1950, one hundred fifty of us looked around in a dazed way and asked, Can I really be a Senior? I don't feel a bit different. Yes, we were Seniors. 30
