Lawrence Mitchell, junior, finished second in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Regional lll meet. Mitchell went on to place fourth in both at state. He posted the fastest time in Texas in the 100 meters with a 10.1 time. The team always contributed and hard work and dedication were the qualities that stood out, McKinney replied. ln coming years he hopes to put more emphasis on field events as one of his personal goals. All the meets were good because we competed in any kind of weather, lVlcKinney stated. The best meet of the season seemed to be at Nig Brown where the competitive effort overcame severe weather conditions to bring home the team title, McKinney said. In comparing this years' team to last year the competitive effort remained and McKinney hopes to have a stronger senior team next year with the goal set at competing and capturing the state championship title once again. 5 kk -- H- Q ,.
