Glass Histor As the day of our graduation approaches, we look back at the tracks we left in the sands of time at Dear Old Dobbs. Remember . , . when we entered our Freshman year in 1954-55? As Freshmen we started out our High School career by choosing Roy Higgins, Presi- dent, Curtis Tilton, Vice Presidentg and john O'Con- nor, Secretary. The Freshman Swing Session,' our first dance, proved to be a tremendous success, even though it poured cats and dogs that night in Novem- ber! Other memories filling our minds of our Fresh- man year are those of the trip to the United Nations with our social studies teacher, Mrs. Jamieson. ,Furs thermore, we had the thrill of seeing some of our classmates make the athletic teams.. F Remember . thewday we became So,pl1omores?ftfe A H We were no longer lowly frosh, to be looked down upon by the upper classmen. We then, in 1955-56, elected our class officers, namely: Nancy Bucci, Presi- dent, JimmyKStedman, Vice President, and Geraldine Shutowick, Secretary. Our second dance was The Halloween fHop which had fabulous decorations- our two scare crows were the center of attraction. We also had corn stalks, pumpkins, and a huge moon and witch. Mr. Cohen, our biology teacher, took us on a trip to the Planitarium and to the MiQiseum'of Natural History. Remember . . . the day we became juniors? We had hnally reached the point where we were upper classrnen, Hurrah! At last we were nearing the top. We met with Mr. Mikulsky, our junior advisor, to elect officers for that new, and we hoped, different year. Roy Higgons became our President, Sara Cowles became Vice President, john O'Connor was elected Treasurer, and Theresa Bartels became our Secretary. Then we juniors really became known as a Nfhoice- class with the dance that made the whole school sit up and take notice - The Cuban Holiday on the 19th of February 1957. As usual, we pre- sented another spectacular dance. With the aid of the splerfdid decorations, our dance was a smash hit. Our junior Profil, Midsummer's Night Dream,T7.,which was given on June 20, l-957f-,was the mosttstiipen- dousiand exquisite, dance, fin our opinion, ever given. We really felt superior having movigig pictures, taken of us while the Seniors looked on with envy. ln the sports held, we were very proud of Bob tAudevard because he made the All-County Team that year. Towards the end of the year, we began laying plans for our junior Prom. We can truly say that A good time was had by allf' Another important phase of our junior year was to choose our class rings. The next big step was to elect our Student Council Presi- dent. The political campaign then got under way and Greg Hill became our Student Council President. At this point in our careers, we began to'feel very confident of ourselves, knowing that we had al- most reached our supreme desire- To become a SENIOR!!! , Remember . . . The day we became SENIORS? What a thrill it was! First on our agenda, as Seniors, was the task of electing class ofhcers-under the leadership of our advisors, Mrs. Marie McManus and Mr. Glenn Polly. Roy Higgins became our President, john O'Connor was elected Vice President, Sara Cowles became our Treasurer, and Theresa Bartels was elected our Secretary. Ah, but we soon found out . ppgy that the life of a Senior is not one of complete luxury because the homework assignments were piled on immediately. However, we were somewhat relieved whenfhe time came rolling around for us to ues- c'ape school forQajjdayiffbyt -spending an absolutely marvelous and extraordinary day at -Bear Mountain. We felt the results the following day ,iiiii however- aghes, moans, groans, and all sorts of pains! tt1ff .,,L i They'll never get here!! That's what we thought about our Senior rings. We waited, waited, and waited. Ah, they finally arrived! We were now of- ficially Seniors. 'We wereiviery fli' for the boys in our tt class who were elected the previous gyeargito important jobs in sports, namely, Bob Afldevard, football captain, Roy Higgins and john O'Connor, co-captains of the basketball team. As the year pro- gressed,-we began to work on our yearbook, were measured for our caps and gowns, and ordered our graduation announcements. The latter two made us really stop to realize that departing time was just around the corner. On Saturday, the 21st of Decem- ber, we presented our Senior Ball, Club '58. Christ- mas vacation came as a well-earned rest, but we soon found ourselves back in school again, worrying about those dreaded mid-terms. Nevertheless, after we crossed that hurdle, with minor frustrations, we went on to bigger and 'better things. We chose our Senior play- 'Headin' fora Weddinf We'll never forget all those fabulous gf'Senior Partiesj' especially the first one, when Bob Hutchings, Billy Carroll, and John Migliore turned collegiate and appeared in Bermuda shorts! We also showed the moving pic- tures that were taken at the prom. Furthermore, will we .ever Vppp forget Up Little Susie? As tligfiyear slowly' ebbs away and we Seniors look forward to our.,Senior Dinner and our graduation exercises which makeiiup the last lap of our journey, there is so much regret 9-in our hearts. Time shall never erase our memories of these special years past. We shall never forget all the friendships, good times, and knowledge that we found here in Dobbs Ferry High School.
